Note ricketts is not now saying training is enjoyable. Just seems to be suggesting that the team actually do some training and tactical work now. God only knows what they did under the last bloke!

you mean... what??? you think Coyle was inept??

clearly there was a problem - but I'd be a little bit shy of overplaying what players say when a new manager arrives - they are pretty much bound to say that summat is better or that there is a new confidence - or a new way of doing things - if they didn't, they'd be a bit daft...

I see Blackburn have just sacked their 3rd manager of the season. I think we can safely say that compared to our fellow relegated clubs, we've done pretty well to get Dougie despite the odd teething problem. What a mess they are both in. Here's to Dougie's Superwhite army and our march on the Prem!

If he was the Blackburn manager, he'd have been sacked in January.

Even at his lowest point as Bolton manager his PPG ratio was above Appleton and Berg.

I thought it might be.. But that wouldn't have mattered to them.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have left Palace to work for those loons.
Talking of them, I'm sure I read something when they appointed Kean where they described him as 'potentially the new Owen Coyle', in response to concerns about his lack of experience. Might he turn up there next?

I'm not a "stat" person, but if we looked at our results since Dooooogie took over, and worked out a PPG, how would we sit in the league?

I know it doesn't mean anything, it would just be interesting to know.

If you take the PPG since Dawson came into the side we'd be top of the league with 83/84 points.

Which means absolutely nothing. We've gotten the 7th most points whilst Dougie has been here. That is all that counts when it comes top the reality of the league table. It isn't bad, but we need to do better if we hope to get into the Premiership in the future...

I'm not sure it means any less than looking at PPG on any arbitrary set of games. It would be easy to argue that had Dougie been here in the summer we'd have had Dawson or another proper centre back, and been far far better. It's easy to say that once he brought his own players in to the side we've been going at a far higher PPG.

Bottom line is that we're getting better. From a very very sickly state the green shoots of recovery are showing.

Personally I don't think we'll make the play-offs this year, and for me the focus is well and truly on whether these green shoots can really blossom into something next season.

Fingers firmly crossed.

I was thinking more of the whole season sorry! PPG per team over the season so far.

Eg, if Cardiff had played 20 games under MM, won 10, drawn 5 and lost 5, that would give them 35 points. Giving them a PPG of 1.75.

If Freedman had been in charge of us for 10 games in which we won 4, drew 3 and lost 3 that would give us 15 points and a PPG of 1.5.

By that average we would have 30 points over the 20 games.

I'd just like to see Dooogies average implimented into the current table.

Pointless I know..

But it doesn't mean anything because you changed history. It didn't happen. The points attained since Dougie arrived did happen. The probability of what you are extrapolating is probably in the billions to one.

From ATs data, I think Dougie would be at 1.625 ppg which would put us into 5th.
