It'll end in beers.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.
Poor man last, rich man first.

Re: Huddersfield Away
Anyone here, of a certain age, remember a League Cup tie (??) at Huddersfield when Hudders were in the first division - Premiership if you're under 20 - (???) and Bolton the third (????) and Bolton won 2 - 0 (???????) and Roy Greaves scored one of the goals (???x1000). Somewhere, deep in the attic, I have a newspaper whose back-page headline was "It's B for Brilliance".
Have a sneaky feeling a certain Mr. Worthington played that night for Huddersfield (???x10000)??

The ground's OK, more than OK. Very steep banking on all the stands so a great view. Worse than that is the two real ale pubs on the station. Know how to treat visitors, Huddersfield. Bloody Yorkshire for you.Armchair Wanderer wrote:Looked at the fixture list the other day and missed this one. Very tempted. What's the ground like?

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I might be getting confuserated, as I was living in thatbloodylondonplace in 2001, but recall enduring a 3-2 loss at their gaff with Deano scoring. I'd check the stats if I could be arsed...boltonboris wrote:Was 2001 when I went. I think.Lord Kangana wrote:'98-'99. We lost 3-2, took over 4k as I recall. You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Huddersfield Away
We had a few games against Huddersfield in a fairly short space of time, with one side or t'other scoring 3 goals.
In 1999 we got beaten 3-2 at their place. That was at the end of the 1998/99 season (March 1999)
In 2000 we won 3-0 in April at the end of the 1999/2000 Season, then played them again in September 2000 at the beginning of the 2000/01 season - we won this one 3-2.

Was that the one that got us up to 6th and the perfect position to feck it up against Watford at Wembley? Cos...I was there...Worthy4England wrote:We had a few games against Huddersfield in a fairly short space of time, with one side or t'other scoring 3 goals.

Anyway, not going this time... Though the stadium is fine (unlike Leeds Rd which was a dump inhabited by some totally not-rights...)

I was in the Huddersfield end that day, I seem to remember Barry Cowdrill scoring.Bruce Rioja wrote:I remember being at Leeds Rd once when some absolute 4uckwit decided to climb up one of the floodlight pylons in our end.

Re: Huddersfield Away
There are certain places that, by the mention of their very name, depress me to the point of misery. I'm thinking of the likes of Dewsbury, Dronfield, Bracknell, New Cumnock. But top of the list, the most egregious example, is 'Uddersfield. I will not be trekking to this pit of despair, therefore I will be hunched over the laptop following the erudite commentary provided by TW this weekend, while sat in a pub.

It took us up to 8th. We didn't hit 6th until the last game of the season, leapfrogging Huddersfield, who'd been in 6th at the start of the final day...William the White wrote:Was that the one that got us up to 6th and the perfect position to feck it up against Watford at Wembley? Probably one of the 8 visits that Keith Edwards got a hat trick

The other game we won 3-0.....sure I remember Ricketts lobbing the keeper for one of them?
I'm going, but might sack off the match and drink heavily in Huddersfield all day instead
Troll and proud of it.

It's about 5 miles from mine so I shall pub crawl my way there. I think there's some bonkers festival of light or summat on this weekend n'all.

That'll be Christmas: it was on last weekend, this weekend, next weekend, the weekend after that, and the bloody weekend after that too. It even stretches to the weekend after all the weekends I've just mentioned. Never mind only fifty one weeks until Christmas 2013 rolls around.superjohnmcginlay wrote:It's about 5 miles from mine so I shall pub crawl my way there.
