Designated Penalty Taker?
The weird thing for me yesterday was that Andrews took the penalty. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he did, because at least he scored it.
But... I'd have thought if you've got a striker like N'gog who's not exactly proficient then there'd be a case for having him take the penalties, with the idea in mind that the more he scores the better his confidence in front of goal and therefore the more he gets in open play, theoretically.
Come on Dougie get him practicing and make him designated penalty taker.
(This is my theory, my theory alone, and I'm sticking with it).

Andrews tends to score them. Why change it to someone that couldn't score in a brothel 90% of the time?
Re: Designated Penalty Taker?
Some people haven't got the bottle to take a penalty. Leave it as it is.

Do we know that then, that N'gog hasn't got the bottle?Midnite wrote:Some people haven't got the bottle to take a penalty. Leave it as it is.
If that's the case he's a pretty poor player. Hasn't got the bottle and scores in open play once in a blue moon and never at set pieces. How shit is that for a striker?

He is one of them non-scoring strikers that is all the rage these days. How I hark back to the good old days of knowing what a player was expected to do just by the number on their backLost Leopard Spot wrote:Do we know that then, that N'gog hasn't got the bottle?Midnite wrote:Some people haven't got the bottle to take a penalty. Maybe you can tell me, is Andrews designated as the penalty taker, as in is the team officially told by Douglas 'listen lads any penalties, Andrews's taking em' or do they just argue on the pitch, 'me', 'no me', 'go on then but you'd better score'?

I would imagine it was decided before the game.

Don't know for sure, but I would think it has been agreed Andrews is the taker after Eagles started fluffing them.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:

Re: Designated Penalty Taker?
This thread exists, seriously? Someone is actually complaining about our penalties?
The one thing we've actually got right at this club - Taking KD and Eagles off penalties and giving them to Keith Andrews, he has a 100% success rate to date for BWFC by the way, and someone is complaining about it and wants fecking Ngog to take them?
You can't win with some people.

It's the future AT, get with the programme. When you have two non scoring strikers that can run fast, you become Barcelona.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:He is one of them non-scoring strikers that is all the rage these days. Davo took them for a while, a couple of seasons back, iirc bagged six in a row, then handed over to Petrov.

Davo missed one then handed over to Petrov. Presumably felt he'd lost his mojo.
Re: Designated Penalty Taker?
Michael Owen has a shit penalty record. The fact is that for some players scoring goals from open play is purely instinctive so when they come up to take a penalty it's utterly alien to them.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Well, if you can't score a penalty, when the feck can you score?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Andrews tends to score them. Re: Designated Penalty Taker?
Dunno about designated penalty taker, what about Corner takers ? When Eagle and Chungy went off it looked as though no one knew who was to take them. To be fair to Spearing I thought he delivered 3 decent corners. Also, never been a big fan of short coners, I thought the first one was abysmal, it was as though they'd just thought it up on the spot
