I thought he may have had a bench-place or two due given what was said.
Is the guy EVER going to break through ? Or will he wait until we have reached his level ?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Tom Eaves, the human library book
The constant argument is that he is still young and not proven at this level. But him just constanly being loaned to lower league clubs for a month here and there isn't going to let him prove that.
"In 1874 boys of Christchurch Sunday School along with their master Thomas Ogden established a football club which went under the name of the school. The club broke away in 1877 and became Bolton Wanderers Football Club"
Re: Tom Eaves, the human library book
I guess he proved himself at league 2 level, now he can prove himself at league 1 level, then he gets a go at championship level, right?

When he joined us, he'd not started a senior club game.wanderer10 wrote:The constant argument is that he is still young and not proven at this level. But him just constanly being loaned to lower league clubs for a month here and there isn't going to let him prove that.

Re: Tom Eaves, the human library book
As someone mentioned while we were worriedly awaiting the whistle at the Weebok, Tom scored a last-minute equaliser for the Shrews on Tuesday... only for table-topping Donny to go up the other end and nick the win. His goal was a fairly crisp turn and shot from 20 yards, although Rovers keeper Gary Woods won't be proud of it.

Eaves' goal is at 1'25" and there's a speculative lob from him at 1'03" which shows a decent amount of confidence.
Tom's also mentioned in this WSC piece on the small-club f*cktastrophe that is the EPPP.

Eaves loves a good lob.

Haha, yeah I head from my Shrews Spy that it was a highly fortunate goal, thanks going to their keeper. They're (already) very hopeful Eaves'll have his loan extended because they've been without any proper striker for some time apparently. I can't see much value in him coming back to us just yet so can't see why it wouldn't happen.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:As someone mentioned while we were worriedly awaiting the whistle at the Weebok, Tom scored a last-minute equaliser for the Shrews on Tuesday... only for table-topping Donny to go up the other end and nick the win. With the sun setting on SKD, maybe Dougie will want to check Tom out towards the end of the season, in training and in earnest, especially if we're out of the play-off picture (and safe from relegation).Dartisan wrote:They're (already) very hopeful Eaves'll have his loan extended because they've been without any proper striker for some time apparently. Re: Tom Eaves, the human library book
Hmm, yeah fair point. If all else is settled then he might tinker dramatically so as to get a better feel for the likes of Eaves I suppose. Lets hope that's not the case though & that we're in contention for 6th place until the very last.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:With the sun setting on SKD, maybe Dougie will want to check Tom out towards the end of the season, in training and in earnest, especially if we're out of the play-off picture (and safe from relegation).Dartisan wrote:They're (already) very hopeful Eaves'll have his loan extended because they've been without any proper striker for some time apparently. He's bagged two goals and a yellow card already tonight at MK Dons.

He's scored a few at both divisions below us now. I can see him getting his chance for us next season.jjpp wrote:He's bagged two goals and a yellow card already tonight at MK Dons.

Wasn't Eaves the one picked to replace KD.Harry Genshaw wrote:He's scored a few at both divisions below us now. I can see him getting his chance for us next season.jjpp wrote:He's bagged two goals and a yellow card already tonight at MK Dons.

Meh, keepers down there are that bad it wouldn't matter if we'd picked Jussi, Ali, OR Boggers. #tinhatrunforyourlife

Wants to stay on loan awhile, but it's up to Dougie.

And Dougie appears to have let him. Staying until the end of the season

Scored a hat trick today against Crawley
Who's that coming up the hill boys,
The Wanderers are coming up the hill boys,
They all laugh at us, they all mock at us,
They all say our days are numbered,
Born to be a Wanderer, victorious are we....
