Away at Mick McCarthy's Super Ipswich Town

Post by Tals-biggest-fan » Sat Mar 09, 2013 9:04 pm

Only lost 1 of the last 5 at home, beat us at the bok at the start of December, depending on the result for Brighton on Tuesday a win here could see us into the top 6

Team:
Lonergan
Ricketts - Knight - Dawson - Alonso
Pratley - Medo - Spearing
Holden (fresher then anybody in the squad atm, must surely be raring to go after sitting out a few)
C.Davies - Ngog

Edited: Pratley in for Lee.

You think he'll change the team? They'll have had a recently-rare midweek off.

It'll be nice to see a proper manager at work. Just imagine how good the last couple of months could have been.

Can't leave Pratley out after recent performances.

...unless he's knackered... which would be understandable but looks unlikely...

I've learnt that anything is possible with DF in charge atm :P one change I think should definitly happen is SKD for C.Davies, as much as I love SKD the team is better off with him not starting games, the options we have on the bench are much better.

@Turkish Trotter I knew I had missed someone out.

Yeah, he's happy to change a winning team. After all, he frequently has to... :P

Forwards especially get rotated. Was surprised to see KD start - howdydo?

Think change is inevitable we will be carrying some tired players I would like us to line us as follows.

Lonnergan

Ricketts Dawson Knight Alonso

Spearing Medo

CYL Eagles Sordell

Ngog

With CYL Eagles and Sordell looking to support Ngog when possible.

I'd say with that XI he'd be more likely to have Ngog behind Sordell. But we'll see! Nice to have options...

Again no Pratley. Been our best player of late. Plays well with Spearing.

Lee was absolutely fecked towards the end of today's game. The three fouls he put in which ultimately led to his booking weren't malicious, they were simply challenges of a man with nowt left in the tank.

I thought Eagles put in one of his better performances against Brighton and hopefully him being dropped has given him a bit of a kick up the arse. I'd be happy to see him get his place back so:

Eagles---Pratley---Spearing---Lee
--------Ngog------C Davies------

I did think that but apart from today he's been brilliant these last few weeks. I'm hoping it's just a bad day in the office rather than fatigue, only time will tell.

Again, they've got a full week to recover, and Freedman's happy to use his subs. If he thinks he can get an hour out of Lee, he might. Unless he borrows somebody this week...?!

This is just the type of game Wanderers almost always lose. A string of outstanding results, fans becoming increasingly hopeful. Then comes the dreaded 'winnable game' against a crap team that will consolidate our recent performances and keep the momentum going. Then we go and lose it. Happens every time.

There you go, we're doomed I tell 'ya!

I have picked what I believe to be a more fluid side in attack, and would not expect CYL or Medo to last the full ninety and expect Prattley and Holden to make solid contributions as impact players when needed.

Ipswich have only scored two goals in the last six, but crucially have only conceded in two of those games. Clearly they have a solid organised defence and the pace Sordell CYL and Ngog and ability of Eagles to find space give us more options against them.

Given the lack of goals from Ipswich in recent weeks is why I have made no changes to defense as I believe the more settled the back four and keeper are the less misunderstandings and mistakes.

I may have a spare ticket for this if anyone is interested. Will be travelling from the Dartford crossing up the A12, could meet there or enroute. Should know for certain Tuesday, but it seems likely my buddy won't be fit to travel.
