Best Performance in a White Shirt?

Post by chester white » Fri Oct 11, 2013 10:59 am

Seems to be a quiet day on the forum, probably to do with the WC Qualifiers over the weekend, so I thought I'd throw this out there as I don't think I've seen this topic before.

What is the best individual performance you have seen in a white shirt? Doesn't have to be in a memorable win, or a significant game. We might have even lost! Just the one that stands out more than the rest.
The Sherpa Van Trophy! We've won it one time!

Jay-Jay second half of our second season up. Pick any one. Man City at home, where he missed an early penalty, and then bossed it stands out.

Best player in the world for a few months.

Nah. They came off after about 30 minutes.

Djorkaeff's 2nd half versus Arsenal. Even if it did hand the title to the rags.

Nolan in a 1-0 win against Spurs just before he became captain. Bossed the game which put us up into the top 4 I think and scored a blinder on the back end of a run of something like 6 straight goals. He defo should've gone to the World Cup ahead of Jenas that season, I think that killed his career with us tbh

Freddie Bobic v Ipswich - a striking master class

Simon Charlton as an emergency centre back v Newcastle - had Shearer in his back pocket for 90 minutes

Campo V Liverpool, great goal, fell over and caught the ball every time Gerard touched him. Class in a glass.

Barry Cowdrill v Tranmere c 1990

Great thread!! :oyea:

Stubbs in the Cup win at Arsenal in '94. Not keen on the bloke but he was top notch that day. A combination of his heroics and Kevin Campbell's errant finishing kept us in the game.

Youri and Jay Jay completely controlling the game at White Hart Lane.

Umpteen shots on target, hitting the woodwork at least three times and then a late winner from Nolan 1-0

My mate (a Spurs fan) refused to meet me after the game for a post match beer and analysis. ''I think you've hit the bar enough times today, don't you?'' was his text.

Abdouley Faye v Arsenal at the Reebok a good 10 years ago. Never seen a midfield performance like it. Made Viera seem like an amateur.

Worthy v Stretford. Christmas time around 1978. Scored 2 v Gary Bailey. Simply took the piss.

Gary Jones ... v Man Citeh, League Cup around '73. Also Gary Jones away at Sunderland early 1978. Unbelievably Good.

SKD vs West Ham, 08/09. Just back from suspension, we were staring firmly into the abyss, and he ran the show - even got his finger dislocated and resocketed on the touchline. 1-0 win. And you'll never guess who got the goal...

Diouf and Anelka vs West Ham, think it was the season before. 4-1 victory, they were just untouchable.

Klasnic v Stoke ?

Came on as a sub on about 75min. with us 0-1 down.

Scored, I think 2, got sent off ... all within 10 minutes ... and we won 2-1.
