SKD Testimonial - August 2015

Post by YtarmyYtarmy » Sun Jun 29, 2014 3:54 pm

Not sure if this is has been mentioned in other posts etc ... But I was wondering when SKD's testimonial would be, so via the power of twitter I asked and got the following reply.

"hopefully August 2015, just waiting for confirmation. Got a few ex players confirmed already if it all goes ahead"

I know its a good 12 months away, but hopefully we would get a good plethora of ex legends back and a good turn out for our Kev

I'm sure I'll end up going. Perhaps I shouldn't though as the reality that where once stood the likes of Djorkaeff and Hierro now stand Trotter and Pratley will truly take hold. :(

.... aye, & Emma too.

Though if he gets Campo & Hierro & Stelios & Youri out I may be swayed.

I will admit he has gone down in my estimations especially over the way he left the club, but I still have more time for him then some of the feckless wank*rs we have playing for us at the moment.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

Campo, Stelios and Hierro are pretty much confirmed if I remember rightly.

.... Sammy Lee could manage one of the teams. Or maybe not.

Ah yes, but Trotter's wife has never been a bit arsey on Twitter, so employing a solid piece of Terry-f*ckwittery, by association Djorkaeff and Hierro were wasters and everything is now wonderful.

It would be really nice if it could be arranged for his birthday.

I have conflicting feelings on this.

Basically it is a charity match so that is great and a player who definitely deserves the recognition he'll receive.

On the other hand it just feels too far from the time he actually played here. It will be 2 years and a fair bit since he wore a Bolton shirt when it happens and a lot has been said and happened during that time. It just feels a bit odd thinking that not even this August, but next August we'll get to honour a player who left long before that and hasn't even retired, has gone on playing elsewhere.

Secondly and conversely for me it feels too early to invite back those great players from relatively recent halcyon days like Youri, Jay Jay etc. As much as it will be nice to see them to me it feels too raw, almost like a "here's what you coulda won" kind of thing. Lots has happened since then, mainly bad and I can't say that seeing Hierro, Campo etc will personally feel great, given our slide since.

All in all to me it just feels weird, but I'll probably end up going.....

^ You wanna sort yourself out, lad, and stop looking for some deep meaning where there isn't any. It's simply a friendly match featuring some great, great players we've been lucky enough to see play for us. Kev's charity wins. That is all.
