Yes ... when we were in't Premiership.William the White wrote:Mmm... Chelsea in the League Cup... Seem to recall a 0-6 tonking in the distant past...
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Can't happen now though. Dougie has helped the team understand how to defend a lead. Mind you, you have to get one first.William the White wrote:Mmm... Chelsea in the League Cup... Seem to recall a 0-6 tonking in the distant past...

A few of things need to juxtapose, but I don't see why they shouldn't. The battle bus rides again.

Yes, I was stood on the Embankment. Just a wee lad...after the sixth I was thinking "oh, we only need to score a goal every 5 minutes and we'll draw....".William the White wrote:Mmm... Chelsea in the League Cup... Seem to recall a 0-6 tonking in the distant past...
Mind you, Bolton had a team then that could score goals. But probably not 6 in 30 minutes against Chelsea.

Hadn't we just beaten Chelsea in the League Cup the night that Matthew Harding's helicopter went down on his way home?

Yes, Gullit was in charge. I went to that one.Bruce Rioja wrote:Hadn't we just beaten Chelsea in the League Cup the night that Matthew Harding's helicopter went down on his way home?

blimey - them were the days... I can't remember the last time we even came close to scoring from a corner - direct, indirect, og, deflected off an arse, any darned way...William the White wrote:Two goals direct from corners I thinkLeverEnd wrote:Yes, Gullit was in charge. If they pick a decent team and care enough, there's a genuine chance they put more than 10 past us. The headlines won't be 'plucky lower league underdog nearly beat bigger club', it'll be 'Jon Obi Mikel doubles career tally' probably. A loss is inevitable but still, maybe in their post-game chat, Mourinho can teach Freedman one or two basics about football.

Can't wait til we get a new manager in, just to see which tune you'll play. Will be like getting to the end of bohemian feckin rhapsody.SmokinFrazier wrote:If they pick a decent team and care enough, there's a genuine chance they put more than 10 past us. Looks like Dan was right. £25 for League Cup ties.

Might be worth buying a restricted view ticket in their end. Saves a fiver and with a bit of luck we might not get to see all of the goals. It's a win win!
Looks like we'll be playing Wednesday 24th September, as they play Citeh on Sunday 21st.
