Re: Freedman gone
He dud indeed. During that (first) awful pre-season. He declared it as we went into the 1-1 away draw at Burnley where Eagles scored and then got injured.Enoch wrote:I don't remember the words he used, but I do remember Freedman saying publicly that he wanted to build a team around Eagles.
Then he didn't pick him once recovered. We got loads of "he's a great lad" "trains excellently" shite and then offered him out on loan which he declined. That preceeded mysterious talk about money grabbers and more or less never picking him again.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

Re: Freedman gone
that he didnt get another gig til nearly christmas suggests that droppin' him were for the best.
no one ever uttered "he's not playing eagles, that'll sort it" when douglas couldnt buy a goal.
we dont have two full backs now. but i dont want tyrone mears to fill anyones place.
they probably shouldve give douglas a bonus for how he fecked those two off.
and i carnt see lennon signing both/any of them back up.
think gettingeidur zat knight back would be beter value than them two

I don't remember the exact words, but I do remember Freedman telling us on a regular basis that we were playing well.
Freedman talks shit.

Re: Freedman gone
Whilst also putting down the goals we conceded to individual errors, despite these individual errors being a weekly occurrence and therefore weren't unusual and were quite normal for us. Yet he did nothing about it.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I don't remember the exact words, but I do remember Freedman telling us on a regular basis that we were playing well.

Re: Freedman gone
Yes he did! He declared Mears 'not his idea of a full-back' after thoroughly assessing his competence in that position by playing him there for about 20 games during the best spell of Freedman's Bolton career. Presumably that comment was exempt from his claim just last week that he 'doesn't criticise individual players' after Eagles' outburst.jaffka wrote:Whilst also putting down the goals we conceded to individual errors, despite these individual errors being a weekly occurrence and therefore weren't unusual and were quite normal for us. I sincerely believe, with all due respect, that we are being a tad premature here...
That's not a leopard!

Re: Freedman gone
Didn't relegate a mid table premier league team then have them at a ppg which would comfortably have had them playing league 1 football the year after, so I think he'll have to settle for second.
This should be fun.

You did miss out that yon team had the 12th highest wage bill in the league with players nobody would touch with a fcuking bargepole, thus compounding his shitness

Poor bastards.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Was in charge of Liege, so the mutual owners of Liege and Charlton have simply moved him across to London...

Re: Freedman gone
I thought I'd stop caring about Freedman when he left but I still really don't like him. I pity the team who he takes over at next but it's inevitable he'll get a few more good jobs because he'll live off this myth of what he accomplished at Palace, even though it doesn't stand up to scrutiny, and he'll keep getting jobs at a progressively lower level until he drops out of the sport. He's another Stuart Pearce, just not as lucky to get chances at as high a level.
When he's next in line to get a job, fans of that club will probably look at our opinion of him and if any of them are reading this in a few months time, my advice would be to keep your expectations very low. Don't expect good man management or tactics, and look forward to the day he's sacked.
