Sado that I am, I have looked back and the most recent I can find is 1977.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:On another note, I wondered on here when we'd last scored 3 in 3 successive home league games. Been having a quick look. We ended 96/97 with 7, 4, 2, 4 & 4, which wasn't bad, but doesn't quite fulfil the remit. I've been back as far as 1994 (in this division) and can't find an example. Anyone help?

The same 76-77 season Bolton had 7 out of 9 home matches where they scored 3 or more goals.

Re: Who ate all the pies?
Right. No changing the rules this time DSB. The last time I can find us winning three home matches by at least three goals actually included a run of five consecutive wins.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Heh, glad I've dragged people in... Wed 02 Sep 1964 SOUTHAMPTON H League W 3-0
Sat 12 Sep 1964 PRESTON NORTH END H League W 5-1
Wed 16 Sep 1964 MIDDLESBROUGH H League W 4-2
Sat 26 Sep 1964 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE H League W 6-1
Sat 10 Oct 1964 CRYSTAL PALACE H League W 3-0
The next three home matches included a 2-1 win, a 3-1 win and a 3-2 win. So seven out of eight matches ended with us winning by us scoring at least 3 goals.

A hearty round of applause for that man. (Or "round of the floors" as I used to think it was, before I'd heard of Dave Sutton. Not that he taught me otherwise.)malcd1 wrote:Right. So: first time in 50 years we've won 3 successive home league games scoring 3+ each time. Not bad for the moribund bunch NL took over. Long may it last.

Incredible. I was a bit well-jel when Rosler went there and we were still landed with Know-Nowt Douglas.Dr Hotdog wrote:Uwe Rosler has just been given the boot at Wigan!

Indeed, I thought he'd do well there, given time.
Love this quote... sacked "after a disappointing set of results" - a set that included a 2-1 win at Derby less than a month ago....! Looks like Whelan had an itch he couldn't help but scratch!

Re: Who ate all the pies?

With Dave Whelan associated with it....well...

Re: Who ate all the pies?
So just to confirm: it's the right decision, once a manager has taken over from Owen Coyle, led his team on a great run raising hopes of promotion back to the PL at the first time of asking after all before coming up short, to then fire him not long into the next season if he has a shit start?
Just wondering .

.... & doubly cruel on Lee Clark.
Now .... if it was Leeds !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
