Hopefully whilst he's here he can show Beckford where the goals are!

Nice to see him wearing Bolton kit again, if only borrowed stuff. Sort of a natuaral feel/look about it. :D

great player and a bolton legend in his day
but hes 36 now
better off looking forwards to the massive potential of max clayton than going on a trip down memory lane

I'd love to see him on our pitch just one last time.

I only need to see a similar photo of Ivan Campo now & my life is complete.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Apologies I had to come out of temp retirement for this...

NL could sign him until the end of season if its within our budget. What experience & quality to rub off on the other players, just think how much the likes of Max Clayton would benefit from a few months working / learning from Eidur.

Apparently Eidur played a full season last year ?, at what level I'm not sure but for me there's no harm on a 'pay as you play', basis as an impact sub as the General said.

Well, I'd rather see a 36 year old Gudjohnsen ahead of a 30 year old Beckford any day.

Give him the 'Robbie Blake Good For Team Morale and For The Youngsters To Learn Off' contract.

He's only just turned 36, whilst Beckford turns 31 next month. Moreover, Giggs went on until he was 40 and he was still capable of class moments.

I'd have him back even if just for a few months. The top clubs who have got out of this division over the years have occasionally gone out there and added a bit of age and experience to their squad for the final run-in. It's what you do. Leicester even got 40 year-old Kevin Phillips in last season! If he can still do it at that age, think what Eidur can do at this level four years younger! Sometimes a tight game can turn on a bit of experience and quality from an older head.

Course, I'm misty-eyed about the whole thing. Eidur was a legend in the short time he was here, and I can still picture the cup goal he scored against Charlton. I never imagined we'd have him back here, even if he is just training. Just seeing those pictures is amazing.

He wouldn't be an impact sub really, would he? He never had any pace: his strength was reading and assessing opponents, then out-thinking them in close combat. He would now be best used plopped in the No.10 role that's revived Chungy, is naturally Mavies's best position, is also Mason's best role and may well turn out to be where Clayton excels. It's not really the same as throwing on a penalty-box poacher like Kevin Phillips.

I have no doubt that all the aforementioned can learn from a Champions League winner who's played for Mourinho, Guardiola, Rijkaard, Allardyce and Todd. As long as it's not as the new Robbie Blake. (EDIT ...as Dr H notes.)

If he's the new Robbie Blake, and it helps in some way, I'm all for it. His presence on the training ground alone may inspire a few who may presume us to be an also-ran club.

Not really a memory lane thing. Think it all just as stated, a convenient way to maintain his fitness. Still nice that he chose to come back and do it here though. Won't do anyone any harm whatsoever. Few won't welcome him back.

Okay, he's older now, but what a compilation of goals.

I can still picture him drawing David James out before putting it on a plate for Holdsworth. Sorry everyone. :(

Played all of last season at a very decent level with Club Brugge - 45 games / 5 goals

Anyway, he's just training here. I guess he has a place up here still. He must know Lenin, or the Swede ... maybe Jimmy or Diddy coz there can't be any other links left. He's very welcome & it's nice to see.
