Ah, don't be so miserable. If nothing else, it's done wonders for club morale. Apart from yours, obviously...
Exactly.
Ok, I admit to being a grumpy old man :D But I'm still of the view that this is more about flogging half season tickets & shirts than it is about moving the team to another level. Nothing against Eidur, but his recent record doesn't suggest to me that he'll be ripping this league a new one.

File me under "glass half empty" for this one! 8)
We won't get any new ST holders because of Gudjohnsen.. Nor will anybody buy a shirt who does't already have one.. Yes, people get his name printed, but what revenue will that bring to the club? Probably enough for his cover his share of the dinner for a week at Euxton.

We've signed him, I imagine, because he's quite good at kicking a football around a football pitch

Exactly.

I think people also need to look at the fact that we need goals. Cravies doesn't score enough.

Where else will we find a striker capable of scoring goals on a free transfer right now? Especially one of Eidur's quality? No where. They're not out there.

It makes sense.

Don't know, but I'm seeing Eidur as more of a Claus Jensen than in any striker roll. Could be way wrong.

Well, this signing has certainly created a lot of debate, excitement and anticipation.

Well done Bolton Wanderers.

Or Santa Claus!

Lcy will be away or sold in Jan! Eidur is his replacement! With navies out we are seriously lacking a creative midfield type

I think this is much nearer the mark than any out-and-out goalscorer theory... I can see him being provider more than finisher...

I hope to be proved utterly wrong and discover that he is both! :D

Can't help but feel this is near the mark...

On the optimistic side, let's bear in mind one Didier Drogba is also 36... If Eidur gets/stays fit and cuts back on the pies, bringing him back could be a mini-masterstroke.

And if not, a major stroke.

We don't have the clout, financial or otherwise, to replace players like Lee, or Mavies for that matter. If Lennon gets rid of either he will have not taken very long to lose the plot.

Eidur would be a very, very short term stop-gap. Almost on the level of a season-long loan.

I'm sure Lennon will be looking to hang on to both. It might not be in his hands though. Whilst I imagine neither ED nor PG would be dumb enough to alienate their promising new manager by pushing him to sell them, LCY in particular may look to move on if the right opportunity arises. Suppose, for example, Everton make a bid. Think LCY would just say no?

He's now in line for a recall to the Iceland squad, according to the BN.

... which was his stated aim all along.

I feel used.

Maybe we could sell him again to Chelsea?
