Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Point of order but isn't there already a perfectly decent transfer thread still going?
Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Heskey was a poor man's SKD (or rather, a blind rich man's SKD) for the latter half of his career, and they're not much different in age. We could see SKD quite clearly couldn't hack it at this level two years ago. I'm not sure an Emile Heskey coming off the back of two years in Australia is the answer.
The problem might be there's not a lot else. Is Beckford recallable? Desperate times etc...
Also, didn't NL say Davies hadn't been risked at the weekend to save him for Millwall? Hope so. Wilkinson might be OK off the bench.

I'm with Bruce on the Heskey issue. If Lennon takes a look and thinks he can do a job, I'll go with that. In Neil we trust (for the present;-)
Optimistically, I'm also with those who say Chungy being away for Jan might save us from losing him... let's hope so (and let's hope he comes back fit).

At £1 million or so, Chunky is too good a buy for the likes of Hill or Everton to pass up, I suspect.

Chunky to Hill. You heard it there first. (Good job he's not called Ching-Yong, or there'd be some offence...)
My worry with Heskey is that if he has no pace, the oppo play a high line and squeeze our creative department, such as it is.

I quite like the idea of Millwall playing with a high line leading to Heskey and Eidur chasing down Danny Shittu.

It'll work quite well if you hum "Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis whilst they're at itPrufrock wrote:I quite like the idea of Millwall playing with a high line leading to Heskey and Eidur chasing down Danny Shittu.

That's half the match gone...Prufrock wrote:I quite like the idea of Millwall playing with a high line leading to Heskey and Eidur chasing down Danny Shittu.
I think we're safe in presuming Shittu isn't Millwall's quickest defender, considering they've won some points on occasion...

Maybe our Australian friends can enlighten us, but don't think he ripped up any trees down there.

None will be 'decent' until Messi arrives.Gary the Enfield wrote:Point of order but isn't there already a perfectly decent transfer thread still going?

Been working in Preston recently and sopke to one of their fans who said that 'Beckford puts himself about a bit' and then suggested that he just needed a break in front of goal. Seemed genuinely positive about the signing,I felt quite mean pissing on his chips.Hoboh wrote:You really let yourself down at timesPrufrock wrote:Heskey was a poor man's SKD (or rather, a blind rich man's SKD) for the latter half of his career, and they're not much different in age. 10 goals in 42 games.
I think he'd be used much differently if we were to sign him up. Looked like he played lone striker during his time down under. No way that would work in the championship.

Despite us doing that exact thing in all but 1/2 games under Lennon?

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Daily Record is linking us with loan move for Rangers winger David Templeton. He moved there from Hearts for £700k, 25 years old. Never heard of him, anyone know anything about him?
