But there's at least a couple of ways we could play three up top. We could play three at the back, which hasn't always ended in glory; or three in midfield, presumably dropping the winger who got three assists on Saturday.

Me, I'd be looking to strengthen the midfield, because Danns is creaking a little. I like Bannan a lot, from what I've seen, but he's hardly Faye or even Pratley in terms of workrate. Getting Vela back in the middle solves that but causes a problem at right-back: Janko, who might not have the aptitude and attitude to succeed there, or McNaughton, who hasn't played a minute since Lennon's third game (in October) and might be a bit old and slow for the manager's liking? As Bruce Rioja (and others) pointed out, Lennon's rotating right-backs against Watford were largely an attempt to deal with their greased pig of a winger, but it does seem to be a problem position, one only partly solved by Vela's guest spell.

Back to the original point, I wouldn't drop either Alf or Zach, and I wouldn't play three up top (or two up top with Zach behind), because I'd worry that they may be interested observers watching us lose the midfield battle through lack of numbers.

Stands to reason that since McKay has gone from being a great championship manager to not so good , that Freedman will be going in the opposite direction. I'll be delighted with a draw.

Looks sensible if he's drafted in Twardzik to strengthen the midfield (at the expense of Janko, whose pace could make a difference later)

As an aside, the first XI has three Lennon signings, three Freedmen and three Coylers, with two youth products (the bench is 5/7ths Lennonian)
