And the decreased crowds probably play their part in that too...Worthy4England wrote:Bums on seats is important - but gate receipts as a proportion of revenue is lower than the Prem League overall (at the last accounts)...I suspect because we're still on some sort of parachute payment on broadcasting....danardif1 wrote:Ironically, that's our problem in a sense... our income is limited in this division and who does turn up to the ground is contributing a bigger slice of the overall income than what we had in the Premier League days.CAPSLOCK wrote:Ignoring the cretinous content, consider thisBruno3 wrote:Here's a thought. If the wage bill is £20million a year as I think I read somewhere on here and it 's accepted that we are just short of a half decent striker to give us a chance of getting in the play-offs, would the first team squad accept a pay cut of say 10% providing that the money saved was spent on said striker?
Of course they f*cking wouldn't - proving that they, like all the other professional footballers, are just mercenaries and only say nice things about their present club to keep the stupid fans (like me) paying their ridiculous wages. Rant over - feeling much better.
And its all very simplistic
Lets say we sign somebody on 5k a week
Lets say he play 50 games
My season ticket pays for approx 12 minutes on the pitch
So, when you say you pay their wages, you dont
I'm not one to agree with the 'we pay your wages' types, but the bums on seats are a more important part of the club's income than before...

I'm still hopeful he'll be gone in the loan window!
(Better be)
All things considered, think we had a decent window!

That it's going to lose its mind

2 requirements still however and only the loan (almost a Roy Orbison moment then) to solve it ...
i. A goalscorer
ii. Trotter gone.
I suspect the latter may prove harder than the former.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

we could also - by the magic of lenny - convert Trotter into a goalscorer?? kill two birds with one stone - problem sorted for no extra cash... no?

Trotter has a hamstring injury, not sure how bad. So suspect he isn't going anywhere soon unless it was quite minor.
I think Lennon would rather get rid of Medo anyhow who is probably on more money. He does seem more keen on Trotter given the game time he has offered him, when fit.

I have a cuuning plan. Kid on that Trotter's injuries bad enough to invoke our insurers picking up his wages. Then bring in a loaneey with the freed-up cash.BWFC_Insane wrote:Trotter has a hamstring injury, not sure how bad. So suspect he isn't going anywhere soon unless it was quite minor.
Hand me the tache wax.
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
Bar Pratley, Trotter has always seemed the most likely of our midfielders to score
He's one of our better passers, too
The fact he currently moves like a wardrobe makes him a bit tricky to select

Very cunning. Only flaw I can see is that we don't insure players....Bruce Rioja wrote:I have a cuuning plan. Kid on that Trotter's injuries bad enough to invoke our insurers picking up his wages. ^^ well then, Moriarty, the solution is to get them very highly insured and THEN have a series of tragic injuries and incidents. Simple.

Not even sure you can realistically insure footballers anymore. When asked about Muamba, Gartside said very few, if any clubs insured now as it costs millions (or tens of millions) per player. Players have their own personal insurances to cover loss of income should the worst happen.bobo the clown wrote:^^ well then, Moriarty, the solution is to get them very highly insured and THEN have a series of tragic injuries and incidents. No chance of Trotter getting injured on international duty either, more's the pity

Not even if he could prove he has links with Andora.boltonboris wrote:No chance of Trotter getting injured on international duty either, more's the pity
I doubt he would get picked if his local housing estate got international status.

Apparently Trots might play against Motherwell this weekend.
