Agree, he has pace, but he can't finish at this level, let alone the level above. Reminds me of that Flying Postman who Coventry signed on the back of wining the sprint challenge

See where we are at the end of the day but selling woolery and bringing in a loan....not convinced.

Parky hasn't started Woolery yet apart from last night. I suspect he doesn't rate him that much.officer_dibble wrote:See where we are at the end of the day but selling woolery and bringing in a loan....not convinced.

I'm disappointed that Woolery is going. I think there's a decent forward in him that just needs the right coaching and some match time. For me, he's a better bet than Clough.

If we have to get rid of players to bring ones in I'd rather it were benchwarmers like Woolery, Walker and Wilkinson....
I mean if we get James Henry, big If, but if we do that would be a big step up on those players. Don't know anything about Anderson but Parky will.

It's the shitness of our situation really, and really it sort of makes a mockery of what the FL are intending to do to us. We're having to let low wage youngsters go to try and make room for players who we might even be paying more to. I'd like to keep Woolery and Walker and see how they develop over the season, but we don't have that option currently. If they can't help us now, and I don't think either are really ready, then they have to go.
Regardless of anything else, this situation with our embargo needs to be resolved.

Put them together and you've got a real player, but I'd much rather have Clough's natural talent than the athleticism of Woolery. He's pacey but not much else...Bijou Bob wrote:I'm disappointed that Woolery is going. I think there's a decent forward in him that just needs the right coaching and some match time. Madines a senior striker / woolery is a promising kid
Agree with tom - the accounts situation is the root, ultimately parky needs a squad for now, and the 23 players thing means we cant develop a youngster! Right feck up really.

It annoys me also because clubs like Middlesbrough, QPR, Bournemouth etc are allowed to get away with spending way beyond their means simply because they escape the FL's clutches in the Premier League, despite the fact that that spending has been done when in the FL. However a club like ours that is trying its hardest to work to its limits, admittedly after having made mistakes previously, is then restricted in what it can do. Somehow its fine for Middlesbrough to spend £25m+ whilst in the Championship and not earning anywhere near that amount back in revenue, but we get a limited squad size and a one-in one-out transfer policy for actually spending less than Boro did even if it is over what we earned. What the FL are essentially saying is that it's okay for clubs to take out loans etc whatever is necessary in order to spend their way out of the division but not okay for other clubs to even stray a little bit over their budget for whatever reason.Tombwfc wrote:It's the shitness of our situation really, and really it sort of makes a mockery of what the FL are intending to do to us. Unhappy re:Woolery. Think there's a player in him she he deserved more time than he got. Wilkinson is never going to make it so pay him off.
We've got to sack off a promising youngster so we can give game time to somebody else's player. That should stop us getting into a financial mess again. Not only that, but the ridiculous definition of "senior player" means we can't even give any kids game time because as soon as we do they become "senior players" and then we can't sign anyone. But then it is from the same people who brought you the idea of developing young English players by giving more games to old, foreign, premier league reserve teams.

No point in crying about our embargo situation.

"Ourselves" being the wider club. Not just the current owners for not clearing it, but the previous lot for effectively bringing it in. I mean, I agree that it seems unfair that Boro could spend £13m or whatever on Jordan Rhodes as a sub, but let's not forget we were close to £200m in the red.CrazyHorse wrote:No point in crying about our embargo situation.

That may be true but that the FL is so hard on us but doesn't bat an eyelid at Championship clubs spending £10m+ on individual players is somewhat frustrating...CrazyHorse wrote:No point in crying about our embargo situation.

They can only judge these things by looking at the accounts though, can't they? As far as I understand it, we still haven't submitted ours.danardif1 wrote:That may be true but that the FL is so hard on us but doesn't bat an eyelid at Championship clubs spending £10m+ on individual players is somewhat frustrating...CrazyHorse wrote:No point in crying about our embargo situation.

Well yes, but league punishing fans and new owners for past mistakes. And whilst that is fair enough they are doing so in the most arbitrary and nonsensical way...CrazyHorse wrote:Yup.
