League One team of the year

Post by officer_dibble » Mon Mar 20, 2017 7:31 pm

Beavers and Wheater in it.

Fair enough I think, must be a bloody good alternative at left back for Taylor.

None of the others from either our first half pf season team or second half of season team have been consistent enough for long enough to be in it.

Trying to think of the last time we had such a commanding pair at the back. Nae slouches at getting forward effectively to get on the end of set pieces either.

Well done to both - richly deserved.

Must be as far back as Shittu and O'Brien.

:D A cap that fits well, I find. I know we've slipped down a division and that, but he's currently unrecognisable from the player of previous seasons.

Well he's got a manager who knows what he's doing, and understands defending starts from the front and in midfield.

Think any defender would have struggled under Lennon.

He's stayed fit. Cant believe he is playing saturday/tuesday, was even playing in that daft trophy thing earlier this season! Whoever has worked with him on his injuries has done a great job.

If we keep dropping down levels, then at some point, we'll find one that our players are capable of ;-) Wheater has played well at this level and given we're not bunging him £X mega-grand per week has looked pretty good value and has deservedly made the league team along with Beevers.

There was an interview recently with him (in the Guardian) - he says he has problems with his hips and knees being slightly out of alignment, which kept leading to niggling injuries. Once this was correctly diagnosed he was given inserts to put in his boots to throw everything back into line, and lo and behold, no injuries since!!
