or at least the New York Stadium (that's in old Yorkshire,by the way, not the U.S. of A.) Bit pretentious a title, even outdoing our University grandeur, but the Millers live there these days and off we go on Saturday. Roll out the news and views.... :D

If you think that's a bad name, it's now officially the AESSEAL Stadium. Apparently they don't make arse seals, they're a "specialist in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals and support systems" which "operates from 230 locations in 104 countries" but their global HQ is in Rotherham.

Although it's tempting to imagine they got the New York name while walking past those massive monochrome prints in the IKEA home section, it's the historic name of the bit the ground's built on: apparently the Guest & Chrimes Foundry that was there when South Yorkshire did metalwork for a living made NYC's fire hydrants. However, there was a bit of hope-and-wish going on: the chairman hoped the New York name might woo some wonga over the water, especially as the New York Yankees chairman had recently expressed an interest in investing in an English team. (It didn't work.)

Not the first time the Millers have nicked a name from afar, mind. The old Kop end at Millmoor was colloquially known as the Tivoli after a nearby cinema. Mind you, according to Wikipedia, there are Tivolis in Italy, Paris, Copenhagen, Okayama, Aarhus, Slovenia, Germany, Austria, the Costa Del Sol, Illinois, Missouri, Dorset, Holland, Brisbane, Aberdeen, Washington DC, Chicago, Denver, Sydney, Saskatoon and Chattanooga.

The Arctic Monkeys' lyric "you're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham" now slots into place. Cheers DSB!

Great historical rundown D.S.B. Let's hope we can "seal" their fate this weekend.. Bolton had a Tivoli cinema on Derby Street up to 1960, and on it site Tivoli House still exists as a textile business today. As far as I know, nobody ever tried to nick our own historical treasure, Pikes Lane, home of a record no one can ever take away from us; "the venue of the first-ever goal scored in league football anywhere in the world." COME ON YOU WHITES..... :oyea: :oyea: :oyea: ae:)

Ameobi presumably not back yet? If he were I'd say away win, but as it is I'll say a refreshed Bolton put up a good performance but lack cutting edge and end up with a draw.

The team sheet will be interesting to see around the left back area . Grounds for a change? (sorry )
Will Dyer make an appearance, is he ready? Jamie Proctor is likely to appear somewhere for the Millers even if he doesn't start, as he's been declared fit after a session of injury problems. As ever I'm going for the points. 2-0 to us. :oyea:

You've got to go there and win the battle. Seen them on TV the other week and they look a really tough nut to crack at home. We've got to really defend well and hope our quality on the break can hurt them. Needs a Reading type performance so lets hope we've got that in us.

Love that line but I'd never drawn the dots with the Millers' new home. Wonder if there's an area of Hunter's Bar called San Francisco?

(Also a line one can nowadays appreciate with proleptic irony, considering the much restyled Alex Turner now appears to inhabit his own universe hovering somewhere over Arizona.)

Ha, what's in a name? Next road to us is called "Broadway" ...it's about a 300 yards long row of terraced houses...in Farnworth. I used to live a bus ride from "Portsmouth" at one time....in Yorkshire...

I'm actually very up beat about this one, for some unknown reason. I'm calling it 1-3 to us and I'm going to be very disappointed if Marc Iles' first question to PP afterwards isn't,

"So Phil, you've come straight from the dressing room, are you able to confirm the rumours surrounding josh Magennis"?

That man has worn a trillby while drinking white wine, no doubt.

Wonder if the irony ever makes it through Alex's duck tail...

Though all that said I'd kill to have been at that Austin City Limits joint QOTSA gig.

I did reference this when we played Rotherham two or three seasons ago. Just sayin'. :D

Tough game. Not 100% convinced we're gonna score.

Also saw a stat that said we've registered the fewest shots in the league so far this season. Without Ameobi, the outlook looks grim.

THAT SAID, if we can keep a clean sheet, I reckon we COULD nick it 1-0.

What did I say about Buckley before? He's either in the starting XI or dropped altogether. Anyone explain that?
