Better limited, but has given his all for us imo. Seems a good lad to me.

I would like to retain Williams and Connolly - I think Buckley is wildly inconsistent, but gets into good positions and would do well for us next season
They were the only 3 I ticked

Re: Release or rehire?
Big overhaul needed in summer, then, with no senior defenders bar Pawel (who'll want off). But it's not like they've covered themselves in glory...boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 12:26 pmI would like to retain Williams and Connolly - I think Buckley is wildly inconsistent, but gets into good positions and would do well for us next season

I like Williams and Connolly too but you imagine Everton won't wont them to take a step down
Buckley, I dunno - he just never looks likely, to me
Re: Release or rehire?
Buckley is a good player but he needs 3 or 4 games behind him before he's at a level, at which point he inevitably gets injured and has to start again.

Is? I'd say was. He's finished at any sort of reasonable level. Not just because of recurring injury - his injuries have taken his sharpness and physicality away. He's not got that burst of pace in him or the strength to compensate.

There was one moment at QPR where he picked the ball up on the halfway line and...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 1:11 pmIs? I'd say was. He's finished at any sort of reasonable level. see, most other wingers, you'd finish that sentence with "set off toward goal". But Buckley burrowed sideways, dribbling through the centre-circle and out the other side in the general direction of the Hammersmith flyover. In a 40-yard lateral wander he must have progressed about five yards closer to goal. True, he didn't lose possession, but he did allow around seven QPR players to jog back into position.
I'd have loved for him to work, but he hasn't. As Boris notes, he can get into good positions, but then he usually collapses. Even while scoring at QPR he nearly handballed it wide. He just never looks confident, bless him.
Re: Release or rehire?
I still think "is". Millwall away (I think) with a run of games behind him he was our best player by miles. Sharp, great movement, looked a threat.
Then he got crocked.

Re: Release or rehire?
Theres quite a few players in our current squad that would cause all sorts of problems a league lower, Morais struggled in the championship but was brilliant in L1. I suspect the likes of Buckley, Noone, Little, Wheater, Beevers, Taylor, Vela, Wildschut (shudders) would have a much bigger impact.
Other players i'm less inclined to agree with.
Donaldson, I like his work rate but his movement and first reaction doesn't look like it would be goal oriented, too much running to the wing or looking for a pass as opposed to getting a goal.
O'Neil looks like he's going to offer the same as this season. I've been impressed so i'd have him again but I doubt it would be a massive improvement if he were a league lower.
