Howard will the Rams batter us? Derby (A), 3pm, 13/04/19

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

Howard will the Rams batter us? Derby (A), 3pm, 13/04/19

Post by TonyDomingos » Thu Apr 11, 2019 4:20 pm

Assuming we don't implode tomorrow, then we're on course for a pasting at Pride Park the following day.

Amazingly, even if Wiggin, Reading and Millwall all win, we still wouldn't be (mathematically) relegated.

Our loss is a given and I am fearing the worst. 0-4 at the very least.

Derby's league record in 2019 ain't great: 4 wins in 15. But, 3 of those wins have come at home against fellow strugglers Reading, Wigan and Rotherham. The latter being a 6-1 drubbing two weeks ago. It won't be pretty, but you'll get good vfm in terms of goals scored per £ paid to get in. Take your boots and you'll probably be on the bench.

Boro had lost 5 on the spin yet could have been 4 up by half time on Tuesday.

I fear for us Saturday. I'm predicting a 5-0 loss

Pardon my ignorance but, "who is Howard"?
I have seen this name mentioned in other threads and I am oblivious to who this person is.

"Howard" was the pseudonym used by someone on the Wanderers Ways forum who claimed to be linked to a consortium interested in buying the club. He was reasonably credible (to a point) and garnered a lot of followers on WW. However, it finally came to light yesterday that he was a fake. I thought I'd go with the zeitgeist by referencing him in this match thread. Sorry!

Thanks for clearing that up. I only visit the site from time to time but, recently I did notice this name mentioned in many posts.
Kind regards Athertonian.
PS Atherton Colls are playing Clitheroe at Colls on Saturday 3pm kick off. Lets see a few more Wanderers fans attending. £7 adults and £4 concessions.

Has Howard actually admitted to being a fake then? Last I saw he/she was still peddling a different version of the story.

I thought the received wisom was that he's a charlatan? Apols if that's not the case.

Genuinely don’t know - i’m at a loss to explain the whole thing. Curious I suppose. If fake, why? whilst there was enough in the public domain to run the story...why? If real, what’s Ken done, what potential unscrupulous methods has he used to keep control?

The amount of Wanderers fans attending the colls home games have increased five fold recently. Cant see many wanting to subject themselves to much more than they need to. The footy Colls play puts Bolton to shame, get down and see for yourselves.

Is there a "wildest dreams" option tomorrow? One where we actually win and take three points. Is there even a chance that P.P will roll the dice and say " Nowt to lose now, (he'll probably say/use nothing) Bollox to the fortress attitude, get out there and take it to them? "....I mean, what exactly "is" to lose now? Right at this minute, absolutely nothing at all. Be brave Phil, be brave....

While I agree Parky could be a more adventurous manager, we also have to factor in that to some extent he may be trying to get the best XI players possible out there, and none of them are forwards. I understand that people were upset when ALF was benched, but it's hardly like we've got a stellar spread of fizzing attacking players kicking their talented heels on the bench.

We beat Derby earlier this season. We did it with 26% possession, but also not inconsiderably because of Derby's 17 attempts, only one was on target. With the squad, manager and club as is, I doubt there's a good chance of us getting a result at Derby with much shy of a machine gun, but I suspect that playing gung-ho football will only exacerbate the battering.

I know I sound like a broken record but Connor Hall merits some game time now. I know Clayton Donaldson is shit and I know no manager in their right mind will sign him on for next season. Hall is contracted.

I don't think Hall is tier-two level and judging by his gametime at Accy – one start (on Boxing Day), 12 sub appearances averaging 16 minutes – Jono Coleman wasn't exactly raring to get him in at tier three either. He's 21 now and what he really needed this spring was a regular run, maybe in Division Four. Perhaps nobody wanted him.

That said, I completely agree that I'd rather be giving Hall a runout than dear old Clayton. There's a chance that Hall is the future. I'm not entirely sure Donaldo is even the past.
