Sounds like Murphy is done.

Must say of the newbs I've only seen enough to comment of Murphy, Bridcutt and O'Grady. O'Grady never impressed but the other two are absolute top drawer for where we are. Will be delighted if that's the case. Plus bodies. And someone who's scored at the Reebok!
Murphy - top, top quality.

O Grady is a mean bastard. Doesn't score many but will offer strength and experience up top

It is being said (by Marc Iles, chiefly) that we've been talking to Celic about some fellah called Dodoo...

surely too good to miss? A proper ding-dong-do-doo....
Rangers isn't it?

Ex Leicester who scored a hat trick at Gigg a few seasons ago
ahh - yeah - probably right! Rangers/Celtic - scottish clubs - basically the same thing... (see also Australia/New Zealand... America/Canada... Denmark/Norway/Sweden...)

Haha it’s the most we’ve done on deadline day.

Murphy and Bridcutt would be reasonable championship players. So that’s a mega plus and kudos to Hill and the new owners there. The others, I have no idea! But Emanuel at least has championship experience. The centre half I am told should be decent at this level, but is supposedly slow (and at 33 isn’t young!). We needed wide players and full backs and got them.

Not pretending to know too much about most, but the handling has been brilliant. To get so many in on day one as management gives me great hope for the future. One thing's for sure, nobody will be bullying Bolton kids anymore. Get in...

David Wheater is 1 year younger and isn't the fastest either. I'd say it could be like for like.

Hill has had 2 days, there might be question marks over the likes of O'Grady and Bunney but at least he will know their strengths and weaknesses

Think this is why it was crucial to bring a manager in. Would these lads have signed without knowing a forthcoming manager would fancy them?

So:

----------------------------Matthews------------------------------
Emmanuel-----------Hobbs------------Wright----------Bunney
----------------------Bridcutt--------Murphy(L)---------------------
--Verlinden------------------Crawford------------------Buckley----
-----------------------------Murhpy(D)---------------------------------

Subs:

Alnwick
Lowe
Edwards/Zouma
Politic
O'Grady
Weir
Earl

Looks competitive:

All aboard the Great Escape Train :oyea:

Lowe and Weir both ahead of Luke Murphy for me. Hill might work miracles with him I guess but thus far....

Not to dwell but I do think it's a shame Oz couldn't hang on.

So going off a 23 man squad is that:

GK: Matthews, Alnwick
RB: Emmanuel, Brockbank
CB: Hobbs, Wright, Edwards, Zouma
LB: Bunney, Earl
CM: Lowe, Bridcutt, Murphy, Weir, Darcy
Wide: Verlinden, Buckley, Crawford, Politic, ??
CF: Murphy, O'Grady, Hall.

Add Gaz O'Neil tomorrow (or a winger if Buckley is going to play centrally) and looks good to me. We should at the v least be competitive now

Not sure Darcy and Politic count yet. Jimmy Phillips said we could sign 12 and we’ve signed 9, not sure if Hobbs was done when he said 12, so 2 or 3 more spaces.

Gary O Neill did a shrug shoulders emoji when asked if coming back so not sure that one will happen. Perhaps not someone Hill fancies?

What a day, topped off with the signing of Murphy....I'd say that we actually have a team better than last year, with a manager who likes to play decent football.

We at least should have a chance of staying up with these signings.

I meant more for a working squad than for registration numbers. Think Brockbank, Hall, Darcy and Politic are the kids who looked "up to it" in terms of a squad place. Edwards probably too. Zouma I'm less sure of. Would take one more CB and central midfielder in an ideal world.

He's only given Buckley a short contract to Jan so maybe he has other ideas about the team last year.
