An open invitation from Laurence to meet him by the statue at 6.30pm TODAY and ask any questions you like.

Anyone going? :|
Who's Laurence?
A full piece on the nutter's call to arms...

As Harry asked, is anybody going?
Are the crowds gathering? Is the statue vibrating with anticipation? Or has it been called off already
Do you think I'd have a case if I took him to the small claims court for my travel expenses?

Having just watched us the subject of Granada Reports (views of the stadium and Mr Bassini scuttling about chasing papers across the grass and coming across as less than the great white hope to ride to our rescue) I'd say he shouldn't have bothered. He was hardly coherent and din't really say anything new.

That was just pure theatre wasn't it?!

Piles of loose paper, with him dropping pieces and still seemingly unable to complete a coherent sentence. I almost feel sorry for the guy.

Bizarrely, and I don't quite know why, Nicky Hunt's there.

Bassini's been delayed by traffic, apparently.

If we could just get Bassini a toy sports car, he might just stay in the park making vroom vroom noises...

BBC reporting the takeover is 'on the verge'. Bit like Bassini's paperwork.

I'll believe it when it's actually happened.
Better than reports of imminent collapse I suppose.

We all know by now that these reports should be taken with a pinch of salt but it does appear to be gathering a bit of momentum - Sky Sports have reported similar.

This report...
Bolton Wanderers: Football Ventures takeover close as Oldham cancel pre-season game - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49072909
It's just rehashed stuff mainly based on BBC Manchester, no doubt based on Iles BN report this morning. The Sky Sport report appears to be based on the BBC Sport report.
I don't think it gives us any more encouragement than this morning's stuff. I'm not being negative, maybe Iles is right.

And yes, can I add my  to 'on the verge'.

Who exactly? Not on here surely? If its from Twitter then they don't count.

I have heard people say it is better to have Bassini rather than go out of business. It is hardly a ringing endorsement though. The man is an idiot as we all can agree on.

I think it's exactly that. We can all see he's a crackpot. It's likely he hasn't two farthings to rub together. However, he is preferable to liquidation. Even if him taking over meant we'd just delayed it by a few months.

Someone on Wanderersways with eagle eyes has spotted that the piece of paper Bassini was waving claiming it showed he had the funds around was letterheaded by solicitors Brabners but signed by someone who hasn’t worked there in years...

Classic. And exactly what administrators have said about him.

£25m initial outlay, eventually likely to be £50m+, and he can't afford a ring binder....

^^This is significant if true. Tom Morris is a billionaire. Michael James backed by Tom Morris, and prepared to invest in BWFC, was always the dare not dream best case scenario I had in mind when this ridiculousness began. Of course we don't know whether he is just a backstop to get the deal done, rather than an active financial supporter of the club going forward.
