Wonder if Mr. Phoenix will ultimately be tasked with making sure the academy is a more effective conduit to the first team. Will be interesting to see what if anything changes going forward.

Feels like the first thing likely to change is the people in charge of the academy... if Hill gets his way. And whereas six months ago such a move might have been regarded as the new broom, now the idea of him exiling such long servants as Jimmy Phillips and David Lee might not be as warmly welcomed, whether right or wrong.

I don't really know how good Phillips and Lee are at their jobs but I do know I wouldn't trust Hill to be the judge of it.

From 2018 Champs to 2020 Chumps.

Wouldn't say they are shite at their jobs. Again the decimation of the U23 squad will have taken it's toll.

I see that it's Connor Hall's 22nd birthday today. We can't score for shite and he's on loan at Chorley. Pretty clear that his future doesn't lie at our place, which is a shame.

You'd certainly think so. Worse possible time injury for him at the start of the season when all the kids were playing. If he's any chance with us he needs to score goals for Chorley. If he does, one tier below where we'll be playing next year, he might have a shout but the signing of e.g. Faal doesn't bode well.

You'd probably reckon if you can't get into a L1 team at 22, then you probably aren't making it as a footballer, much above the level where you can get into someone's first team...

Chorley are bottom of the table though. I don't think he'll be getting too many opportunities there either.

Wey heeeeeeeeeey, some decent news at last. ALI Crawford’s Wanderers comeback has taken a step closer as the midfielder returned to full training yesterday.

He's not exactly young, but Liam Edwards has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken kneecap suffered in a training-ground collision. Finds out Monday whether he needs an operation.

Yeah, but you don't wanna think about how.

There are some injuries that might have you questioning training methods, but that's just very unlucky.

Liam Edwards certainly seems injury prone.

Don't think I'd ever heard of anyone fracturing their knee-cap before and now we've had, what, three in a season?

Good job everything else is going swimmingly.

'Wanderers have confirmed the club's academy will step down from category two to category three which will mean the discontinuation of the Under-23s team.'

Anybody understand either (a) the thinking behind this? Or (b) the ramifications?

Believe its being modeled on Brentford (in the long run) - linked below. Whether it gets there or not who knows.
