They have binned that scout off after 3 months. Changes afoot it seems.

BTW spare a thought for the lads who propped the first team up. Your Eddie Browns etc...could well be out on their arses this summer.

That’s often the way with academy lads though. After your scholarship - which you might not finish - you’re on a year to year path: develop or leave.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 7:37 pmBTW spare a thought for the lads who propped the first team up. Agreed, but they propped our first team up when there was none. I wish them all the very best. Usually, I wouldn’t even check the name list for who was released. I hope they all get fixed up with clubs.

Jordan Boon first to leave. Nice words on his exit as well. Good luck Jordan.

Four of the kids have turned pro.
Goalkeeper Matthew Alexander (18), defender Adam Senior (18) and midfielders Sonny Graham (17) and Callum King-Harmes (18) have all put pen-to-paper on a one-year professional contract after graduating through the club’s youth system.

Bounced out of the FA youth cup by none league Guiseley. The youth set up suffering from the neglect now big time. We were in the final of this weren’t we ten years ago or so?

Was thinking about this as my local National League side's youth team won their tie 6-0 away v a team the league above Guiseley. I do think it's a sign of where we're at these days.

Re: Keith Hill's School For Gifted Youngsters
We've had a long period of instability and if you were a parent with a talented son there are plenty of clubs that'd look like better options for him than the basket case that was Bolton Wanderers. Falling through the leagues and going broke will have wrecked every level of the club. We are in one of the most competitive regions in Europe in terms of clubs looking for local lads to add to their academy system and we've not been able to fund scouting further afield. It'd be a miracle if the academy system wasn't a car crash for at least the next few years.

Which makes the transfer market approach of looking for second chancers all the more sensible.
