Goal of the decade
Can only be Aaron Wilbraham I think?? Even the last day promotion the season before (Karacan, Wheater and Le Fondre) don’t get near.
Anyway what’s second then - I’ll give you a couple:
Chung-yong at Birmingham- if you had told me then how shit it was getting after that for the next 9 years I wouldn’t have believed you. https://youtu.be/CrVRXpPKZJM
Heskey v Blackburn - he felt like a massive panic signing and Blackburn had been all over us, he came on at half time looking very unfit and promptly equalised from an Eidur outside of the boot wonderball. https://youtu.be/Jm-jspQebf8
James Henry v Scunthorpe- 94th minute winner in a tight game against a promotion rival. Not the cleanest strike but more the timing in a tight game. Very enjoyable. https://youtu.be/tVIJuPf9WYA

Re: Goal of the decade
I would have put Wheater's header vs Port Vale up there too.

In terms of importance then those suggested by Dibble are the ones that spring to mind.
The 'best' goals I can think of in terms of technique;
ALFs wonder strike at home to Fulham
Velas at home to Gillingham when Clough's neat back heel played him in.
Mark Davies finishing off a great team move in a 2-2 draw at home to Blackpool
Trotters long range effort at Sheffield Wednesday

Re: Goal of the decade
Zat Knight scoring at Leeds was an enjoyable one as well.
Re: Goal of the decade
My choice as well. 9 year ago now so just about squeezes into the decade.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 7:17 amIn terms of importance then those suggested by Dibble are the ones that spring to mind.

Re: Goal of the decade
For sheer quality you'd just have to include Elmander's solo against Wolves. Amazing.
For audacity, Ivan Campo's grasscutter against Spurs?

Very much not this decade. Neither was Campo's vs Spurs - IIRC.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 12:49 pmThis might be worth a remember....

Re: Goal of the decade
Wilbraham has to be "biggest".
Elmander's the "best" for me, Jeff. (Though confession: it was at the other end and I was shouting "hit it you useless bastard" as he went through the moves).
Wheater at Port Vale just edged by Chungy at Birmingham for biggest I've seen live.

Re: Goal of the decade
Which reminds of when Sander Westerveld spilled a piss-poor Dean Holdsworth effort over the line and me screaming "Holdsworth, that was fecking sh ................ brilliant"
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Goal of the decade
similar thing in the League Cup final in Cardiff. 2-0 down inside 10 mins, going to shit. SKD picks it up on the right wing, steps inside and spaffs a trundling shot at goal. Guy in front of us "F*ck off Davies you useless...YEEEEEEEEEES".
