More donkey lashing? Blackpool (A) 25.2.20 KO 7.45

Post by Harry Genshaw » Sat Feb 22, 2020 7:52 pm

We haven't won a league game there since 1977. I'm not sure we've won a cup game or pre season friendly there either in those 43 years.

Blackpool no win in 7. Us, one away win all season and looking weaker each week.

Anyone going? Anyone optimistic?

I was at that game in '77. Didn't we take a mad number of supporters that day? I've got 20k in my head.

I was taken to my first away game at Blackpool in 76. My dad went every year and I used to have to go shopping with mum. That year he felt I was old enough so took me. Guess which year we didnt go?!

I've got a ticket for Tuesday but I'm half tempted to go shopping with my mum again instead.

Tower Ballroom (obviously) and the donkeys are all that Blackpool has to offer these days. They'll still probably tonk us.

Interesting...

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/1 ... e-account/
Hill has confirmed that he will be offering more chances to the players who are contracted beyond this season in the foreseeable future.

The likes of Joe Bunney, Ryan Delaney, Harry Brockbank, Liam Edwards, and Muhammadu Faal are all signed on to play next season - and the Bolton boss says he is keen to give opportunities.

“There will be chances," he said. "It will change as a consequence of the situation we’re in.

“By nature I think players will grow and if they don’t then they find it hard to catch up.

“There will be opportunities, I am quite sure of that, as the season progresses. I am going to encourage it and to a certain degree I am going to have to carry losses.

“We want to win, see players on the pitch knowing the geography, where they should be. I want to see them learning in passages of play from the previous result, the way we train, and making sure we have a solid foundation next season."

Man of his word,

2 of those mentioned in the side. T'other 3 not even on the bench.

Mr Hill, I can only offer the following advise. Shut up you div. Just do it without telling anyone you are going to do it.

I understand you mean over the next few games however the twitterati aren't going to see it like that.

There's nothing to lose so play them, that will give us some idea what shape we'll be in for next term.
As for tonight, who knows, they may even surprise us and win but, I doubt it.

I've given up hope that we're going to get anything away from home. No points away from home this calendar year and a terrible record all season. 7 goals in 14 games is a pathetic return for a side that focuses on attack as much as Hill's sides have been doing (particularly earlier in the season). Maybe its a mental thing.

Obviously i'd like a win today, but failing that, if we're going to succumb to another defeat, we may as well see a goal from our one of our ex players for an interesting talking point (Madine / Spearing / Feeney).

Swore I wouldn't watch again, like a compulsive gambler. Chasing that illusive win.

It's worse than the weekend.

It's anyone's guess as to what the tactics ad game plan is.

Politic in the number 10 role?

Half an hour in it felt like a 5 niller. They've had 2 strong penalty claims turned down and were walking through our midfield at will. Hard not to think that Lowe may have been around to block the shot for their goal instead of him looking lost and unsure out wide.

Ultimately its 2 sides. One that collectively knows its job and the other that just looks lost.
