Santos. Absolutely asleep then. Shocking goal to concede.

Too too easy. One striker in the box and Santos falls asleep. I think we’ve looked far too open since the change in midfield.
We do look very easy to play against.

Shaun Miller on for Liam Gordon - presume Taft goes LWB, two at back

Yes - I can't describe that defending apart from shocking, Sunday League level we have to do better than that - weak as piss.

We look good with the ball, and its refreshing to see how well we keep possession, White looks decent in midfield - but FFS our defending generally is really poor even at League 2 level, Taft looks ok but Santos looks really poor & Baptiste is still a mistake waiting to happen.

Yep. Just get into shape then hit balls down the channels. It’s a concern how our back line is so slow in both speed and thought being asked to play a system that demands excellence in your centre backs. Lots of work to be done. Not convinced by Jones as a wing back on this showing. Midfield is a bit laboured and Conley the only defensive type looked a bit slow on the ball. It’s early days and no doubt will improve. There are some good things to build on but if you can’t defend in any league in modern football you won’t get very far. And right now we can’t defend.

Jones has played like a full back and defended well. I'm ok with that looking at the rest of them. 😁

Very poor in their half since Crawford has come on.

Even making Clayton the Don look threatening here. Definitely some work to do!

Midweek game in the way though

Against a higher-division club...

Bradford played well - looked organised. We don’t. We look very rusty. I’d say on balance lot more to be worried about than positive about. I do think it will come good but next few games...hard to see many results.

Be interesting to know how new that Bradford team was - obviously we are a complete new team and it takes time...but they haven’t played since March. We started the second half well but we couldn’t put any passes together beyond the halfway line once Crawford came on. Definitely what I feared might happen this morning - think it will take a few games to get going.

Some bright spots but poor overall.

Early days yet though. Evatt will sort it.

Santos/Baptiste looked like absolute liabilities. Some of our build up, first 60/70 minutes was encouraging. Doyle can't do much with the service he didn't get.

Despite all that, I'm half encouraged.

It was basically a friendly IMO, so the result is irrelevant - but our defending (as it was in the Crewe friendly) is really poor - Baptiste is past it, he was a poor signing & Santos looks like a cart horse he has no positional sense at all.

There are good signs, and you can see what Evatt is trying to do which is refreshing in regards to passing & possession etc, but there is a lot of work to be done, we need to play at a quicker tempo. Another observation - for a team with several 6ft 5" defenders we lose a lot of simple headers.

For me today we looked a bit naïve, can keep & pass the ball for fun which is good but we are certainly not going to piss it as some think....it was a bit flat for me, it will take time for Evatt to implement his style....but I doubt that some of these players are good enough - that striker signing today was astonishing & knee jerk IMO, a really strange signing and as with Tutte we are now signing some very average older players - what happened to this new Moneyball strategy ?
