Expect plenty of cliches in the build up to this one. "We need a reactions", "making the UniBol a fortress", "relegation 6-pointer"....

There will be very little forgiveness for anything but a win in this one.

We said we'd know more about where we are as a team after 10 games and where we are is hoping teams like Mansfield are worse than us come the end of the season. The prematch thus far has been about how toothless Mansfield are, but they have scored more than us. It has also been about how defensively disorganised they are, but they have conceded fewer than we have.

Mansfield are winless this season, but it is also important to note that they have lost fewer games than we have. They sacked their manager a couple of days ago and their last match was a 1-1 in which by all accounts they scraped for everything and played on the front foot.

It's not often that a game at this stage of a season is "must win" (another cliche we will see a lot), but this feels like it.

Probably worth noting that Nicky Maynard scored his first of the season for them in their draw with Walsall and they generally played more positive football than in their previous games. Maynard will be well up for this one and anyone thinking they are a "gimme" might want to think again.

Nominally a 4-3-3, they played two dropping mids (Marris and Lapslie) to form a defensive 6 when out of possession against Walsall and it gave them a platform. We have struggled to break down compact units this season. They also have mids who like to shoot from inside that "second 18 yard box" that we have struggled with recently and all three of their midfielders are happy to get forward as needed. The lad they stuck at right back, Gordon (who used to be at Derby) had a licence to get forward and that freed up Reid to wander around a create space. Charsley linked in down the right from midfield to create overloads and you'd expect them to target that side again us.

If we've no Fonz, then we'll struggle to score. Taft in for Baptiste or Brockbank in there (where's Edwards?). Try Hickman on the left or give Gordon or Mascoll another try. It all feels a bit like shifting the deckchairs on the titanic. Scrap it all and go for a resolute 4-5-1?

1-1 draw.

It's all a bit bizarre. If we offered the performance at Cambridge or first half v Bradford, we'd probably take that right now. But Orient was a fecking disaster with pretty much the same team in all three. We didn't drop "a bit" v Orient we went back to schoolyard. It's certainly shaping to be a hard season, so getting consistency is top priority for me.

Mansfield haven't won a game yet this season, so we all know what's going to happen.

If we lose this one Evatt's job will surely be under severe pressure. The fact we had to pay that big fee for him and would owe him a fair whack if we terminate his contract might buy him a bit more time, but we can't be hanging around the bottom of this division too long.

They can arguably afford to be very, very patient with him. It's actually really difficult to be relegated from this division. There are always proper basketcase clubs and usually a points deduction or two. Unless they have banked on promotion, which would have been foolish, they can give him time.

His job is arguably already under threat, though. He's caused that himself by saying he wants to win the league and compete on all fronts with his magnificent group of amazing talents.

Yep. Absolute away banker this one!! I had Evatt sacked on 90 minutes v barrow. Here’s hoping he’s a lucky manager.

Our only hope of scoring is Sarcevic. I can’t see Gnouha influencing at all. I’d play Sarcevic where the fonz has been and bring Darcy in for Crawford with White and Comley. And pray.

Defence wise I haven’t a fecking clue why Taft is the fall guy but he is. Not even a sub yesterday. I think the back 3 should be Brockbank, Santos and Delaney - they seem the bravest. Left wing back...I’d actually try Hickman there and pick Kioso but I suspect Gordon is ‘steadier’ (or less shit) than Mascoll.

Keeper. fecking hell.

Especially given our current home winning run, perfect set up for an Away win.

Maybe FV can afford to be patient (ish), but the fans definitely aren't going to be patient if this continues much longer.

Does it really matter? We're not going to be in the ground this season, being realistic. If the fans are calling for his head for a month or two it's going to change much. If it went on longer than that they'd sack him anyway. As much as it "should" matter in terms of football philosophy, we are currently not important in the process.

As much as Evatt tries to get the team to play nice pretty football, this crop of players simply can't do it. We have yet to win convincingly and by trying to do so makes me so glad I'm not there to witness it live. According to form, the best half of football we played was not visible as i follow was on the blink.

This crop of players are simply not good enough and won't be anywhere near the top of the table at the end of the season, any Bolton fan believes otherwise must be deluded.
Mansfield! as pointed out in an earlier post haven't won so far, they'll come here and give us a damn hard time. Our same problem seems to follow us each season, we can't defend nor can we score goals.

I have no idea what to expect in this one. Don't think the players know either what Evatt will want them to do this time. We are all confused, from top to bottom in our club at the moment. How can we win without forwards and a Goalkeeper? Your guess is as good as mine.

If we select gilks maybe he'll have less time to coach Crellin. They can just give him a load of videos of Jussi and he can teach himself.
