DSB wrote this on the match thread;
If we don't manage promotion then I would definitely release only Delaney and Mascoll, although Isgrove and Miller would be expendable if we could recruit better.
For me if we did manage to somehow gain promotion then all of them bar Brockbank, Jones, Tutte and Gnahoua could leave.A reminder that the "permanent" contracts of the following are up in summer: Baptiste, Brockbank, Delaney, Mascoll, Jones, Hickman, Tutte, Isgrove, Miller, Gnahoua. (Plus some kids)

Rumours in the twittersphere are that the big marquee signing is Jayson Leutwiler (no me neither).
Used to play for Fleetwood (as apparently has ever goalkeeper with a pulse) and t'Rovers.
But Champo Huddersfield want him too. Presumably they want him as back up, or we'd have no chance (which is a depressing sentence to write). He's a free agent so doesn't *need* to be done tomorrow.

I've mentioned Leutwiler in the summer (when he was a freebie) and at the start of this window (when Fleetwood let him go and I looked at their revolving-door goalie selection) viewtopic.php?p=1098983#p1098983Prufrock wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 11:24 amRumours in the twittersphere are that the big marquee signing is Jayson Leutwiler (no me neither).

One of Fleetwood's many goalies is a Bolton-born lad they got in summer from... Huddersfield

They can when your current options are Casper the ghost and a man who risks getting booked for time wasting every time he dives on the floor!

Heh! he can if it expunges memories of Crellin... but more seriously, it depends on the size of it. Cloughy put a lot of Forest's success immediately after promotion down to him signing Peter Shilton from shivering at freshly-relegated Stoke. More recently, Allison arguably helped Liverpool win the league as much as Van Dijk did, Edersen as much as say Bernardo Silva, but admittedly it's hard to describe them as "marquee" signings when the names on the tent will always be Salah, De Bruyne etc.

Apparently the record League 2 transfer was £1.5m paid by Notts County for Kaspar Schmeical. So yes, I think it probably can

That was the mad Sven era. Didn’t they sign Sol too? Very odd.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 5:34 pmApparently the record League 2 transfer was £1.5m paid by Notts County for Kaspar Schmeical. So yes, I think it probably can

Priority areas for me in this order:
Attacking forward type who can play out wide or up front
Centre mid
Goalkeeper
Striker

Good deadline day topic. For me:
Goalkeeper
Midfield hard man
Big fat hold up striker (basically can we get Ian Marshall out of retirement?)

Iles saying that Swiss/Canadian keeper is going to Hudds and we've got someone else lined up. That's the most important position for me, followed by a striker.

I don't think we will, but I'd like us to sign another centre-back.
Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread
Iles is now saying we're close to bringing in another central midfielder. I'm not completely against that, but we already have White (for the time being), Comley, Tutte, Lee, Sarcevic, Crawford, Thomason and Darcy who play in central positions.

I wonder if Comley will leave? White must be. Sarce is out for a month so that’s a lot of games - we need one in I think. Not convinced Tutte is 100% fit.

A GK is important but Gilks isn't costing us too many points. But obviously he's all we've got.

Just going to note again that these are the players who count toward the squad quota (over-21s at the right time) and are out of contract in the summer, thus being easier to shift. Mascoll and Hickman look the likeliest to leave "permanently" – although I doubt Evatt would repel an advance for a longer contract holder like Comley.
Matt Gilks
Alex Baptiste
Shaun Miller
Andrew Tutte
Arthur Gnahoua
Lloyd Isgrove
Gethin Jones
Ryan Delaney
Jamie Mascoll
Jak Hickman
Harry Brockbank

Clearly Mascoll adds nothing now we have two LBs ahead of him. Hickman similarly. Whether they can be shifted....Miller is injured but might be one to have gone if we could find a different sort of striker. A few weeks ago Arthur would have been on many lists wouldn't he?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 11:12 amJust going to note again that these are the players who count toward the squad quota (over-21s at the right time) and are out of contract in the summer, thus being easier to shift. There aren't many on there personally that if we got a good offer for (I mean in terms of taking their whole wage) that I'd not consider getting rid of. Probably Arthur, Gilks and Tutte only ones I'd say are absolutely essential for rest of season (obviously you'd not release all the defenders together on the list!).

Another option is to deregister Gilks if we get cover. Risky, though.

Miller supposedly back fit, or approaching being fit. He fits your wide forward role I think. Worth another go but he looks far too injury prone to consider for next season.

If we're sticking with one GK just go with Gilks...and save the money.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 11:41 amAnother option is to deregister Gilks if we get cover. Risky, though.
