Can we squirrel 3 points from the Wirral mob? (H) Sat. 2020-12-19 15:00 BWFC v Tranmere Rovers

Sarcevic is a fanny when he puts a leg in.

This game needs a turning point for us. A harder tackle might just do that.

We have no outlet in this side. Two wing backs who aren’t wing backs means we can’t stretch them at all:
You watching a replay of Cheltenham?
It’s so obvious. Brockbank and Jones neither have any pace and neither are wing backs really. We are at home. And are restricted to playing through the middle on the break thus far. It’s frustrating because we knocked it about well early on but miss Kioso big time.
No Hickman on the bench either which is odd.
At home you need a threat out wide one of your wingbacks at least needs pace and needs to want to go past their man or have the ability to whip balls in with little space. Otherwise it’s too predictable. Jones and Harry are makeshift at best.

And there is a classic example. Great move. Brockbank gets it in box but looks like what he is. A centre back. And again.....
Your better options being? I'm sure nobody's saying that either are at home in the WB roles, but we're hardly blessed with choice.
Play 4-4-2. That’s my option. The system ain’t working.

This might be ok away from home though.
Assuming we abandon the shape we've worked on for six months, which is extremely questionable as ideas go, who are your two wide midfielders?

Poor. Both wing backs, Isgrove, Delf and Thomason all wasting the ball and letting us down. Crawford on at half time for me, possibly for Brockbank and stick Isgrove wide.

Well we had the openings in that first 20 to be a couple in front. Since then we've lost momentum and tempo. Evatts special half time talk is needed. Delfounso needs to step up too.

So we just play the system regardless of what happens? That sounds idiotic to me. Playing a system irrespective of the opposition or players available.....not for me.

As I said midweek I’d play Isgrove to the left and Darcy or Ali from the right. A narrower right hand side give the full back more licence.

Delfs hidden this half. I suspect he’s carrying an injury and playing on as there’s nobody else. The lack of options on the bench is the most frustrating thing. Really annoyed Hickmans not on there - what the feck is Greenidge gonna do other than miscontrol it!

We have a team of fannies - need to replace Isgrove with Crawford 2nd half. Delfouneso looks like he can't be arsed, which to be honest he hasn't looked interested for the past 3 or 4 weeks IMO.

What we did first half didn’t work. We had by my guess one on target. So we are one down. What do we do to change it. Because it clearly didn’t work. Perhaps the players didn’t put the effort in and a rollicking will change that second half. But what if it doesn’t. What do we change? Or do we just not bother and leave it as it is?

So you'd play a central midfielder on the right (possibly one you campaigned for weeks to drop) and on the left you'd pick a right-footed winger who's been fairly abysmal today. Hmm.

Our passing stats must make terrible reading...its been dreadful. Izgrove, Jones, Brocky all making a habit of it. Fonz needs to get in the game.

I don’t think they do to be honest, other than Blackett Taylor perhaps. We’ve just failed to create anything since twenty minutes by virtue of a really poor cross or final ball. We can still get back into this but it does need to change.

I wouldn't say every team but quite a few are - we have no midfield, we have no leaders or characters in this team - we have a bland group of players unfortunately, Tranmere are a lot better than us.

But there is still time to get back in to this.

Play more centrally as we're getting no joy on the wings.

I'd bring on your mate Crawford for a start, possibly for Brockbank and put Thomason out wide, because he has the vision and determination to pass forward. With a 10 sitting on Spearing it will pressure them. We could play Isgrove at RWB but probably not yet.

No point trying to play pretty football, this lot can't do it. It's results what count and each game is a bloody struggle. Clueless in that last third.
