Lose and we go below em
Win and things start to look up... at least for this weekend. Unleash Mad dog and Afolayan from the off?

I saw enough of the new chaps to suggest tomorrow is the day it all finally clicks.
4-1 win.
4-1 win.

Any sort of a win and three points and happy we'll be come Sat night. I was going to suggest "Pride and Prejudice" for the match thread. The novel in set in Hertfordshire and between us and referees....well... COME ON YOU WHITES...

Score predictions are wild. 1-1, match abandoned following 4 sendings off for us. Evatt nuts Marc Ike’s in his post match interview and Jack Deardon shoves a red hot pie in his face as retaliation.

Was about to suggest Bertie was on the crack Pipe with his 5-0 prediction, but...officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 8:41 pmScore predictions are wild. 1-1, match abandoned following 4 sendings off for us. Two beers and I’m all over the shop. Still couldn’t bring myself to write 5-0 to us. Form table for the last ten has these 8th and us 20th. Not seeing this as the day we channel the spirit of BWFC premier league sides past if I’m honest. As ever though, it’s must win.

One of only two games going ahead in the league today. Fixture congestion towards the end of the season is going to be ridiculous, so having a proper stadium pays off for us today.
I actually didn’t think we played very well on Tuesday, but Dapo and Maddison showed enough to suggest that they should be starting today and hopefully we now start putting together some 90 minute performances.
Gilks
Jones Santos Baptiste John
Tutte Lee
Maddison
Dapo Doyle Arthur
3-1 Wanderers

Me too, but then I remembered whose in charge of moulding them into a winning side and my enthusiasm waned. 2-2Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 7:30 pmI saw enough of the new chaps to suggest tomorrow is the day it all finally clicks.

I think this one is must win. He's had two to a few weeks with new signings, which is about all you're going to get in January. Don't really care what score.

As I walked the dog in the three-below-zero this morning, and appreciating the warmth every time she shat, it occured to me that only three players can be relatively sure of playing today: Doyle, Santos and Jones (because Brocky is injured for a week or so). That's no bad thing at all, assuming it inspires competition and rotation rather than confusion and dizziness.
Notable also that for all the excitement about Maddison (pre-match) and Dapo (post), they're having to fight their way in with impressive cameos off a sub's bench that itself isn't an easy whoever's-left pick any more. Certainly it doesn't look from this point like Evatt can blame a shallow squad, so without wishing to raise expectation – the midwife of resentment – we should now kick on.
Here's what I'd go with today, with their shadows in brackets:
GK Gilks (Jensen)
RB Jones (Brocky INJ)
CB Santos (Greenidge I Suppose)
CB Baptiste (Delaney)
LB John (Jackson)
CM Williams (Tutte)
CM Lee (Thomason)
RW Dapo (Isgrove)
AM Delf (Maddison)
LW Arthur (Elbo)
CF Doyle (Miller - yep, even he's back available)

I'll also be looking for a marked improvement in both the defending of and the execution of corners today; being as after six months, that's SIX fecking MONTHS, it's finally dawned on Pub League Pep that we should be doing a little better with them at either end.

Trevor Kettle is the referee.
Iles seems to be stoking the old fires of 4 red cards at Charlton.
Ironically the last game I got to he was the referee. We won, 2-0.
Dead cert 2-0 win with 4 red cards then...

Not sure what would amuse me, if the phrase "We're sending the big men up" actually carried some sort of threat. Quite like Pub League Pep though.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 11:14 amI'll also be looking for a marked improvement in both the defending of and the execution of corners today; being as after six months, that's SIX fecking MONTHS, it's finally dawned on Pub League Pep that we should be doing a little better with them at either end.

I saw his name and I thought oh this ones a prick and couldn’t remember why. They are all absolutely hopeless at the moment; I just hope we can get ourselves a bit of a cushion before the inevitable shocking refereeing kicks in.
