TBF, Politic is a possible 10 and has been playing on the left sometimes for Vale – I can see him as a sub-Dapo cutting inside.
Worth remembering also that he's underage and thus doesn't count against the squad limit.

We were also needing Xav to cover 10, Baka to cover striker, Fossey to cover right back and Izzy is injured so, yeah, no real depth in the squad.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:08 pmOn squad depth in the right hand forward type spot. That's where Izzy had been playing, Baka and Amaechi have been covering and Fossey could fit in - how many do we expect?

Sub Dapo - the lad would benefit from being a sub for a bit, take him out of the firing line. His back must be fecked from carrying us since September.
If Politic isn’t recalled now I think Evatt has made a mistake personally.

We've hardly seen Amaechi outside of right fwd (when we had Sarce in there) and I assume our new signing is designated to play there? Baka too hasn't been used up the middle much as Doyle was also generally ever present. I agree we bought Fossey to cover RB, but he looked much better going forwards than defending backwards so far - but pretty early to judge...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 5:10 pmWe were also needing Xav to cover 10, Baka to cover striker, Fossey to cover right back and Izzy is injured so, yeah, no real depth in the squad.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:08 pmOn squad depth in the right hand forward type spot. I agree with all that, but as I said to DSB before we only have 5 fit mids even if we get Dempsey (or now Shipley) in. The gap is at '10' and Dapo, Xav etc are the lads who have been mooted as potential cover.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 6:02 pmWe've hardly seen Amaechi outside of right fwd (when we had Sarce in there) and I assume our new signing is designated to play there? That doesn't mean we are not well covered for one injury in one position, but it does mean that a couple of injuries across the squad could see us very short when we start trying to juggle cover.
Squad depth is holistic.

Agree absolutely we're short holistically...across the front - thought you were suggesting we needed more cover front right...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 6:10 pmI agree with all that, but as I said to DSB before we only have 5 fit mids even if we get Dempsey (or now Shipley) in. I think it depends where else we get players. If we don't sign another striker then we may need another option wide right, as Baka becomes de facto striker cover.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 6:27 pmAgree absolutely we're short holistically...across the front - thought you were suggesting we needed more cover front right...
Kachunga was 100% first choice for Evatt on the right, so it will cause him a problem. Especially as all the "cover" options have injury issues either this season or in their careers generally.
I'd imagine we want another mid who can play 6/8/10 (probably Dempsey), a striker and a forward who can play wide or 10 (maybe that's Shipley). We'll see what goes on.

That's what I think he'll be targeting if 3 is indeed the magic number...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 6:32 pmI think it depends where else we get players. I honestly feel like Politic's sabbatical underlines how much Evatt isn't just about fancy dan players. Same with Crawford.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 6:40 pmThat's what I think he'll be targeting if 3 is indeed the magic number...
He wants/needs players who can play expressive football, but work rate is huge for him as a manager.
If we can get Dempsey and/or Shipley in we may not improve technically, but the press will get better and we will win more 50/50s.
Hopefully Vale are nailing work rate into Politic and he comes back in the summer, but we need players who will sprint at and harass the opposition.

Iles: Wanderers are not expecting Lloyd Isgrove to return until March – with Evatt preaching caution on rushing him back earlier.
“I think it was a pretty serious injury what he had that required surgery,” he said. “Lloyd is a speed player and once you severely injure your hamstring, you have to make sure it is at full strength and full capacity before you return because that is the type of player he is. If he loses that then he is not going to be the same, so we have to be patient with Lloyd. At the moment I would think the end of March is likely, but we’ll see what happens.”

Shitter. I was hoping we would see him sooner.
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
Not too sure there is much point. Presumably he's looking at next season for playing next season so risking long term injury doesn't do anyone any good. Unless of course we're in the drop zone, in which case there's a case for playing him.

Kachunga, Izzy and Sheehan are all now summer issues. The lads who are fit when we leave January will be the lads who do all the heavy lifting for the season.

Sexy Kieran possibly out for the season which is decidedly unsexy. Awaiting on the word of the specialist.
