Also, love the 2.5 year deal on this one. Long shot we go up this season. If not we do go up the next. Then we can have a look at how he's developed and see if we need to improve again or give him a new contract.
Very, very good business.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
Last January got us promoted from a hopeless position and so it'll always be a mythical window; but this one may be better recruitment work.
Long term squad building and serious upgrades. Even if we don't see another impossible dream play out in real life, we've positioned ourselves really well for the summer.

I wouldn't say no if it was offered on a silver platter, but I'm not sure I really want us to repeat last season's promotion heroics this time out. It feels too soon. I like the squad we're building and the work Evatt has done, but I can't help but feel that if we somehow did go up this season, we'd spend next season as the Championship whipping boys...

Got to love those lung-busting runs into the box/final third to help create and score goals. I’m excited for this one.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:56 pmTweet with clipreel courtesy of our boy Brommers. Couple of these made me go "Ooh!".

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
Scene of his last league goal for us, when Scott Sellars’ lad was their joint manager.
Good luck to the fella. He was arguably the biggest name we signed that first summer, in terms of playing up the divisions. And in those shocking first few months he often looked our most dangerous player. He also scored our winner in the home game against Bratfurt, and our first ever winner under Evatt at Harrogate. It’s just all gradually fallen away for him though and he needs a new start - he’s 31 on Wednesday. Best of wishes to him, and thanks for what he did.

Midfield Fossey in terms of that.brommers95 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 12:30 amGot to love those lung-busting runs into the box/final third to help create and score goals. I’m excited for this one.
Him, Charles, Fossey and Dapo are going to make every second of every game a nightmare for teams. Just constant running.

…and in his welcome interview he mentions Dion Charles, who was also at Fleetwood (but didn’t play).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:22 pmOld friend: Dempsey will have at least one familiar face in the changing room- Gethin Jones, with whom he played 18 times (and was in another 16 matchday squads) for Fleetwood during 2018. He'll also know Gillo, with whom he played three times.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
I think it was here a while ago that I said we could potentially steal some of Tuchel's defensive tools to tighten up the side, which we have done in the last three games. Narrowed the side in front of the box, slowed opposition carriers down and freed up a man to press them when they're forced wide. A huge part of what we're doing now is increased sprinting in recovery back to front (massively from Dapo and Charles).
Dempsey will play that kind of game all match and every week. Couldn't design a better midfielder for us right now.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
Strictly from an individual point of view, I wonder how many of the side are a bit worried about retaining their starting places after this marquee? signing. Might seem a strange question from a fans point of view, but being dropped is never a pleasant feeling and Dempsey walking straight into the side means somebody goes out, at least partially.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread
Football sometimes presents weird little triangles like this.
April 2017. Bolton stuttering in their promotion chase from league one under Phil Parkinson head to Port Vale as Fleetwood hot on their heels go to Gillingham.
A Bolton win and anything other than a Fleetwood win sees Bolton promoted.
Bolton win and going into the last ten minutes or so Fleetwood are losing at Gillingham. Before Kyle Dempsey equalises for Fleetwood and then they grab a late winner to take it into the final day. Bolton eventually go up after thumping Peterborough and Fleetwood lose out in the play offs.
Dempsey who scored Fleetwoods equaliser at Gillingham to dent Bolton’s chances then moves to Gillingham.
From there he now joins Bolton who went up, went down, and bounced back into league one in that time.

Lovely stuff. He also signed for Fleetwood (initially on loan) in August 2016 in part to replace one Antoni Sarcevic who had left them a few months earlier at the end of his contact, just after they'd been promoted to League 2.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 9:43 amFootball sometimes presents weird little triangles like this.
