Playoffs could get interesting though. Wycombe if they win games in hand are level with us and Derby one ahead. Peterborough only three back.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 9:53 pmIt finishes Plymouth 2-1 Derby. Which is now good news.

You can start to say Ipswich and Barnsley look likely. Then two from the other four? I’d rather be in our position than Wycombe or Peterborough’s but I reckon a one match swing (possible on Saturday even) could change that. If Wycombe won Saturday and we lost I’m not so sure we are favourites anymore.

That Plymouth result was crock of sh1t wasn't it. A point would have been great for us but they manage a win late on. Dodgy penalty too. Almost an ideal night's work spoiled by that although Barnsley won too to keep things nervous in the promotion race. We did what we had to do, won comfortably in the end but Accrington are no big fish and we're going to have bigger challenges that that in the weeks ahead.
We're going for automatic promotion, we have to. It's too near a prize to give up on but results like tonight happen. Derby are too near us so even though they dropped all points, a draw would have been ideal as Plymouth lose out too. I know we play Bolton soon, you're not facing us at the best time for yourselves as we're on a run of sorts and scoring goals freely. We'll score against you i'm sure of it, we score almost every game and got loads of attacking options. Your best way to getting a result is catching out our sometimes suspect defence and if the players - our players - become complacent after a string of impressive scores and goal gluts. McKenna is far from the best we've had at Portman Road, far from it, but the difference he has made in such a short time is something to behold.
Not all fans are completely happy with his starting formations and rotation of players though. : - /

Hello Bingo-Bongo, good to see you still around. Just one comment to make: It's never over till it's over, and we have as many large lady singers as the rest. On with it..

I think most are looking forwards to the game Orton. From the last couple of months, I think you folks had a wobble and so have we, but you look to have corrected yours a few games back. Noticeable, that your away form is generally pretty good - think you're 2nd in the away table. We're 4th in the home table (broadly same as Ipswich). We're also hoping a few are back from injury - we've been fairly sparse the last few weeks. In the friendliest sense, we'd be delighted to help de-rail your bid for automatics and strengthen our own position.OrtonCakeBingoBongo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 10:53 pmThat Plymouth result was crock of sh1t wasn't it. Looks like he'll have to be - QPR have just announced a near-£25m loss for last season. That takes their total loss since Tony Fernandes arrived in 2011 to £314m.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 6:28 pmAinsworth leaving Wycombe is very good for us. He’s an outstanding manager.

Orton Cake Bingo Bongo is an old acquaintance but friendly and usually fair. He thinks Ipswich are on a roll andinching away from the rest of the automatic possibilities, and that's a wheel we need to put a spoke in.

This is the big issue with the argument that footballer's wages aren't out of order because "They are just taking a fair slice of a huge business."Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 10:23 amLooks like he'll have to be - QPR have just announced a near-£25m loss for last season. The Premier League has so massively screwed up the whole football financial system that clubs betwixt and between are almost all living way beyond their means and the FFP rules mean owners can't simply pay for non-playing costs like they used to.
The biggest clubs cheat and the smaller clubs pay for it.

Important games for us tomorrow. Wycombe, Posh and Pompey all away from home. Not often I want Joey Barton to win a football game.
Re: League One, 2022/23
At the moment it looks like a limp to the end to be 6th place whipping boys, but things can change drastically in the last few games as teams rally and others run out of steam. Parky's team certainly stuttered at a later stage than this before starting to win again at the end.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 9:30 pmImportant games for us tomorrow. Run a couple of scenarios on https://thefishy.co.uk/calc.php in one I left to the programme to decide, the other, I punted at the remaining matches of the top 8...neither produced a finish higher than 7th we're domed I tells ya)...where's your spready coming out after the weekend, Barnetto? I suspect a couple of those columns might have slipped to 7th too...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 1:12 pm.bw@bw wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 11:08 pmI think that Pompey ought to be in that listDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 7:45 pmExtrapolation update:
Wanderers still on course for play-offs, but playing away in the second leg. Barnsley still the (recent) form team, barring the serene Wednesday. Ipswich have got over their wobble.
On a good run since they changed manager

Could be a threat if they keep up their last-6 form. Although maintaining good form into longer spells has recently been problematic for just about everybody bar Wednesday.
