Dempsey has done his ankle as well - injury prone or unlucky? He’s not had a run of games since we signed him.

Next round opponent possibilities:
Bolton
Everton U21 or Mansfield
Salford
Accrington
Lincoln
P.Vale or Barnsley
Man Utd U21
Burton

Obviously there are one or two there to avoid!!
Anyone but the U21's for me.

You'd have to fancy our chances of progressing if we draw ourselves.

Even Barnsley. They weren't too dissimilar from ourselves in the league game and bested us in the cup. So it would be nice to get one over on them to return the favour. All depends whether we show up for that one.

Either way there are no teams in that list that we should be fearful of.

Evatt talking about not judging Kachunga on goals. And I think that’s fair. I don’t mind someone who rarely scores If they add something else. I just struggle to see what Kachunga does add. He’s ok at receiving the ball but then far too slow to use it.

Charles whilst he’s limited I obviously see the workrate he puts in. And whilst he can’t trap a bag of cement you can see an argument that his running and pace offers us a route out and especially if he’s paired with someone who can hold the ball.

However with Kachunga I’m genuinely struggling to see how he doesn’t make us worse.

I see there were less than 700 on at Salford last night, and over half of them were from Bradford. How much longer will the EFL continue with this farce of a tournament?

They can abolish it next season after we win it.

Would it be home or away? We struggle on small pitches (allegedly)

We should see them off fairly easily if we play even half-well (and Dixon doesn’t completely feck up).

In the group stage they beat Carlisle 2-1, Barrow 2-1 and then drew against Fleetwood 2-2. However all three of those sides played second string XIs.

In the previous round they came through on penalties against Wolves U21s after it finished 0-0 after 90 minutes. They’re 11th (out of 14 teams) in PL2 - they don’t appear to be anything special.

You would suspect that United would have a few decent players in their U21 side. However given the progression of Liverpool and City in terms of league position and the subsequent lack of boardroom expertise it might be a case of Utd being off the boil in terms of progressing through decent youth.

We play them on the 13th December, hopefully we win and they've got one or two decent players and we open up a dialogue for us to loan or open up future loan discussions.

Thanks sounds promising. I think we should take this competition seriously. A trip to Wembley shouldn’t be sniffed at even if it’s a sub par tournament.

Also IF we make the play offs having been to Wembley already is a big advantage in my view ahead of a potential final.

Yeah definitely. There’s also good bank to be made in the competition which could really help next summer's transfer budget.

We’ve already earned £65,000 to date in it and there’s £190,000 still up for grabs in prize money

Round of 16 win £40,000
Quarter final win £50,000
Final win £100,000 (runners up £50,000)

Semi finals and final are also televised, with participating clubs receiving £20,000 in those games.

Sunderland supposedly made circa £1m for their run to the final in 2019. Most of that will have come from ticket sales for the final where they sold 39,000. We wouldn’t take many to a final, but you can imagine a run to the final still netting us around £500k.

We wouldn’t take many to a final? Not sure about that. I suspect 30K would go.
