What if we've decided Izzy's return to fitness means we're better off not carrying Sadlier's wages?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 4:58 pmSadlier out for a proper wing back makes sense. Sadlier out for nobody would be silly.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I still think we're a wing back and midfielder short. Obviously a CB if one goes too. Keeper situation can wait until the summer.

Sadlier was given a chance, he didn't take it.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Midfield needs better quality/fit, certainly. In terms of bodies we are already heavy, though.
Currently at 7 for the 3 central positions, with 6 who can play the deeper 2 and 5 who can play the more attacking ones - depending how we set it up. Will be 8 for 3 places when Thommo is back.
A lot of money in there that could probably offer more return.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Yes, 'fit' is more what I meant. I feel we're one light, the final piece of the jigsaw if you will. Thomason coming back and playing like he was pre-injury would be great, but it's a big ask.

You don't need to be in the right position to do the most basic aspects of the work.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:29 pmA chance is a decent run of games in a position that suits. He’s not had that.
As Evatt said, he never showed the basic x, y, z of being a Bolton player at this current moment.
Pedersen managed to do the most basic aspects at left back, because he cared enough to do it. I have no issue with Sads, but he was given a year to bother and didn't. So we move on.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I'd much prefer us to get a WB for cover - no problem about that. I'd like a better second keeper than Dixon too. From the narrative, it's clear Sadlier would rather be down South with his "extended family" and playing regular, than up here and not.
The world isn't "risk free" unfortunately, and if we ended up with Adabeyjo, Jerome, Shortire, Williams and N'lundulu for Dapo, Baka, Beck and Sadlier, then we'd have mitigated some risk at LWB, some at No 10, added some firepower we were all screaming about, but maybe increased our risk a little on WB cover...
Whatever we do, you're going to see risks. And should they come back to haunt us, I'm sure we'll be reminded.

We'll see what happens with exists/arrivals from that department after tomorrow, I suppose.

He can be as fit as he likes - he simply isn't good enough.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:18 pmWhat if we've decided Izzy's return to fitness means we're better off not carrying Sadlier's wages?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 4:58 pmSadlier out for a proper wing back makes sense. If that is the thinking then personally I'd say it's a dreadful decision.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Good league two player for me. But Bradley will be suspended at some point soon and we need far better than Issy. As nice a bloke as he is. It would be a significant downgrade over Sadlier as back up.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:43 pmHe can be as fit as he likes - he simply isn't good enough.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:18 pmWhat if we've decided Izzy's return to fitness means we're better off not carrying Sadlier's wages?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 4:58 pmSadlier out for a proper wing back makes sense. I'm worried deadline day might be shit. Poor planning from Evatt and the team.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:53 pmWell what a day so far, and it isn't even deadline day
