Oh Quelle Surprise! Barnsley (A) 15:00 Monday 02/01/23
It works better if your French pronunciation's bobbins
Now, important business. Our ticket office is no longer selling tickets for this game, but Barnsley have announced 300 pay on the gate slots are available (£25.00 for grown ups, cash only, Turnstile 44).
So, if you do fancy chancing your luck, then basically you'll be going by car as the coaches are full and 'train travel to Barnsley on Monday is not a viable option due to a track fault at Horbury junction.
The game is available on I-Player, so I reckon that's what I'll be doing.
Beyond that, I have absolutely no idea as to what team we'll have out until after Evatt's finished at his Bingo machine, but I'll bet that he'll be stoically sticking with his formation for which we simply don't have the quality of players required.

Once again, we had 74% of the possession at Lincoln, from which we managed to put one solitary attempt on target, set against their three attempts on target from 26%.
It's not working, Mr Evatt.

Bravo on the title Sir !
A ground where historically we've had little success. That ain't changing this season. 0-1 or 0-2 defeat

In November and December, in the league, they've won five, drawn one and lost none (and got through to the 3rd round having put both us and Crewe out)Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 3:09 pmBravo on the title Sir !

In the same period, also in the league, we've won two, drawn four and lost one.
Not that I think we will, but if we get a point tomorrow, then it has to go down as being a very good point.

Hope the Imp cheat is proud of himself. The penalty box was like the old Wryton Stadium on wrestling night.

No silver medal here for being second in this mini War of the Roses..
Barnsley is in Yorkshire and thus beating any part of the biggest county in England is highly desirable. The White Rose lot will, as ever, do us no favours and I reckon "physical" is the bast pre-match description for this. Missing big Ric is an undoubted blow, and now that Dapo has been smote a three match punishment for throwing a feather at a Lincoln softie, that's another kick up the derriere (in keeping with our French theme) . I'm hoping we'll go with Charles and Bod as a strike pair.
Barnsley's four wins and a draw from the last five games against our one win, one loss and three draws doesn't look too encouraging but, as Jimmy Greaves said "It's a funny old game", and provided we don't gift the Tykes a soft early New Year's present, we may just upset the Grand Old Duke of York and his ten thousand men and haul ourselves back into contention. A cheer for the Red Rose then, and a rousing COME ON YOU WHITES
and at those Yorkshire puds...

He was elbowed in the face with the ball not even in play. No matter what else was going on that’s a deserved ban for Dapo and he only has himself to blame.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jan 01, 2023 10:19 pmHope the Imp cheat is proud of himself. If somebody grabs at you from behind your natural reaction is to fend them off with an arm. Elbow in the face? Bollox. I didn't see any burst nose, just a master class in throwing himself on the floor and howling. He was hanging on to Dapo like a Velcro joint, easily seen from multiple replays.Did you see different from where you where? So that's a deserved three match ban for our player is it and from a Bolton supporter. Fine.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 11:55 amHe was elbowed in the face with the ball not even in play. There is no situation in football in which you can swing your elbow into someone’s face completely off the ball and not receive a red card if the ref sees it.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 12:51 pmIf somebody grabs at you from behind your natural reaction is to fend them off with an arm. Being held isn’t justification for that. It’s simply the rules.
It’s been the rules for a long time. He should have known better.

Surely if Afolayan was having his shirt tugged then his correct response should have been for him to have gone down.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 12:51 pmIf somebody grabs at you from behind your natural reaction is to fend them off with an arm. I'm not taking sides or owt here, you understand, but to elbow the guy in the face was a dreadful, wholly unprofessional reaction. Whether he barely touched him or depressed an eye socket is immaterial.

If your playing for fleetwood it only seems to merit a booking…
Anywaaay, teams soon. No Dapo and as he’s one of no best players it’s a blow. Who will be shoehorned into where today!!
I think Duff has Evatts number to be honest - can see a heavy loss to nil today.

Jon Dadi and Charles lead the charge. Pleased about that.I'm hoping for a great day for the Irish today, maybe another Toal goal.

Bod and Charles are up top.
Let's see what this dishes up. Can't say he's not giving the punters what they want.
Jones and Santos on the bench too. Good to see.

With Dapo unavailable, Sadlier moves across... to the bench.
I like Bod. I hope I like him even more after today.

Happy with that if we're sticking with the same formation, though it's high time Mr Dempsey stepped up.

As poor as MJ was against Lincoln I think he’s a miss away today. Happy enough with the rest of it, good to see Santos back as well.

Weirdly, I think MJ is suffering from a malaise common to a few Wanderers this season: Looking better off the bench than as a starter.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 2:17 pmAs poor as MJ was against Lincoln I think he’s a miss away today.
