If the question is

Promotion or Papa Johns? Then I know what my answer would be.

The trouble is we won't know the question until the end of the season.

Admittedly both would be nice.

If BoltonBoris could kindly choose to not watch another, then that would be nice.

I'm not claiming a direct comparison and neither am I counting chickens, but a mid-season trip to Wembley did us no harm in 1995...

Honestly, even if we go to the final and lose we'd have been to Wembley and got the virgin nervousness out of us so we can go and be proper shaggers in the play-offs final.

I'd take the trophy over the promotion. Never seen us win anything aside from the asia trophy but seen us come close. We've been promoted a few times.

I suspect promotion would be better from a business perspective but it'd be nice to actually see us lift a trophy.

We aren't getting past physical teams with actual footballers.

At Wembley against most teams? I’d fancy us. Play off semis v Wycombe? Not so much.

Sure but they are that sort of team that finds a way. No way they’d be as open coming here for a second leg with a 1-0 lead.

If we were to be 3 up against them I reckon they'd go for it.

That's not so bad. Got to double figures consecutive away defeats until we won at port Vale in Parky's promotion season. Thought long and hard about that ticket purchase!

3-0 in August, wasn't it?

It's not weird to lose games against the best teams in the division - especially away from home.

At Wembley with a ref who knows the cameras are on, we not only out play most sides we also get those calls the refs don't give away at Wycombe in League One.

We may or many not get through the play-offs, but we certainly have a chance if we finish top 6.

I deleted a load there.

Basically we just need to pick up some players who can stick the ball in the box with more quality in the next window. It's one of the areas we still need to fix. If we do that we'll start to win these kinds of games.

It’s not like I’ve not been saying that for months now is it? Bradley has a major weakness there. John has decent delivery of a sort. Jones has better than Bradley.

That’s hurt us all season. Bradley is our best outlet but his delivery and final ball is non league.

Chuck enough shit and some of it will start sticking.

Our shots on target are lower with him in the side though.

Although I don't think including the last two games is fair as they might be outliers.

3-0 in August but look at Wycombes form since January. It’s insane. And they are beating the best teams too.

Let’s not kid ourselves a two legged tie vs Wycombe would be bad for us. They have history of beating ‘better footballing teams’ in these sorts of games and I’d really want to avoid it if we can. The Wycombe team now are not the one we dismantled in August and were yesterday the first leg of a play off I’d be far from confident we could edge past them in the second leg as they would be incredibly well organised would kill the game and always a threat on the break and their own set plays.

Come on it’s been blindingly obvious all season that we lack real quality into the box. It’s not Bradley’s fault and I’d like to see whether John on the left offers a bit more balance and hopefully means Bradley doesn’t have to do it all.

But when you compare us to sides in and around us we have many advantages but the one consistent issue is quality delivery into the box that Derby and Wycombe and SW have that we absolutely do lack.

In tight games that makes the difference. You can argue that someone who can run less but deliver one great ball is more effective especially in these tight games. Jones is not amazing but his delivery and end product is better than Bradley’s and it showed in the last two games.

It's not just delivery though. Sometimes it requires a speculative effort and someone having a crack, rather than us shifting it out wide trying to walk it or pass it in.
