Worth noting that this side is now better than any other Wanderers side in history at keeping clean sheets.
Certainly puts the old arguments about "non-league" Santos into perspective. He's certainly not the only reason we've done so well defensively over the season but it's safe to say he's a big part of it. MJ has, by all accounts, done well today, but it'll be good to get both Rico and Toal back.

25th clean sheet this season.

Plus Dion Charles, the first Bolton player to score 20 in a season since Michael Rickets, 00/01. We all know how that ended.

BBC report has the following gem
"There was controversy before half-time when Oxford forward Kyle Joseph, in a race for the ball, was taken out by keeper Brandon Fleming outside the area.
Ref Sebastian Stockbridge showed Fleming a yellow card when home fans were calling for red."
Laughable.

Well I for one am outraged Fleming wasn’t sent off. As clear a red as I’ve seen since wembley!

We got away with one there! Lethargic, sloppy and wasteful. But we’ve got character. And that counts for a lot!!
Good round of results for us today!!

Hold on. This can't be the same set of pub players we've got, can it? The bar has moved up, since the "old days"

Mbete out for 4-6 weeks with a knee injury back at City for treatment.
Unlikely that Toal or Santos can play again unless we get to the play offs themselves according to Evatt.
So the back three we played today need wrapping up in cotton wool.

Should we tell them not to tackle, mate? What will be, will be. Not long since Liverpool were playing Henderson and Fabiniho in CD.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 7:01 pmMbete out for 4-6 weeks with a knee injury back at City for treatment.

Nah just minimise what they do in training I’d say.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 7:08 pmShould we tell them not to tackle, mate? What will be, will be. I think Mbete being injured might be reflected on as a bit of luck.

We've been very, very unfortunate with injuries in defence. The equivalent of a very decent L1 back three out (Iredale-Santos-Toal) plus a back up (Mbete).
I don't think there's any planning for that. Though I saw Evatt joking in his post-match interview that he'd fallen out with the physio - I wonder if there is some thinking being put into improving the medical side...

You'd hope training is minimal now on the physical level. No need at all for fitness training, which will be maintained by playing games.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 7:45 pmNah just minimise what they do in training I’d say.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 7:08 pmShould we tell them not to tackle, mate? It's got to be said that Joseph lad was unlucky today. Definitely didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Snap him up!knobpolisher wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 6:37 pmBBC report has the following gem

3 pts ... how we did it I don't really care ... but when I see Johnston and Jones go down needing treatment during the game my heart is in my mouth. MJ vs Mbete...no longer a debate since Mbete is now out, but MJ gave away a couple mistimed tackles on the 18 yrd box. None of those free kicks scored fortunately, unlike the one Mbete gave away, and also, Traff had to come out because MJ was done for pace. Could have been disastrous for Traf and us. If they had gone in we would be having a different conversation about his performance today. We certainly need him though, and I guess Morely would be the other central defender if the worse happens
20 Goal Dion. Congrats Sir..I am happy for you because you have really improved since you its been a long time since we had a striker who did this. Keeping my fingers cross that Toal and Santos will return for the playoffs if we get there. Without them I pray. Johnston was again outstanding today. Hope he and Jones are ok for Tuesday.

Derby manager getting pelters for not seeing a 1-0 win out. Evatt getting praise for doing just enough. On such fine margins are promotion and relegation decided.

Their player had to try for the ball, Trafford had to try and get it. Unstoppable force meets immovable object. If either had drawn back they'd have got the boos. Ref was dead right, Trafford got a yellow for doing his job, they got a free kick. Rest is a matter of opinion.
Amen.
Amen.
