Re: 23/4 Fixtures
A lot of people on social stuff who have been saying we're still "7-8 players short" are also saying "15 points minimum from August", so it's that fixture day never changes.
The big thing is that the Christmas period looks friendly.

^^ I think from what we've seen the last couple of years, Sept/Oct/Nov are where I've been most concerned, we seem to have been unduly pressed for injuries and results (comparatively)...

Re: 23/4 Fixtures
Was just wondering (but too busy to check) whether we still had That Bad Month last season.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:46 pm^^ I think from what we've seen the last couple of years, Sept/Oct/Nov are where I've been most concerned, we seem to have been unduly pressed for injuries and results (comparatively)...
From brief look at first six fixtures on a tweet - they look mostly winnable, unless we're scared of the Burton bogeyman, with a couple of 'big' games (Wigan and Derby) as benchmarks. It's good to have a relatively winnable start with a couple of those big'uns to (hopefully) gain momentum. Was talking the other day about the 1996/97 season (98pts, 100 goals) and how beating City in the first midweek really propelled us on, in a way that beating say Southend wouldn't have.

Re: 23/4 Fixtures
Not sure we had a single "disaster" month, quite like some previous seasons, but we certainly had the odd wobble. Pre -Jan, from Cheltenham to Barnsley (14 games) we picked up 20 points. That's quite a significant drop from the other 32 games, but each month had, maybe a win or two in it which made it look less bad.

How many fixtures have we got on April 23rd, as advertised in the thread name?

Playing at Burton whilst there is still some grass left will be a novelty.

It’s more of an extremely tricky time signature.Prufrock wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 12:20 amThat's the 4th of November next year to you isn't it?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 3:57 pmHow many fixtures have we got on April 23rd, as advertised in the thread name?

Re: 23/4 Fixtures
New matchday prices are a bit steep IMO, I can't see many on the day attendees pitching up to boost numbers unless we are top 2.

Yep. That will put a lot of walk-ins off. Season Tickets remain great value, but those matchday prices are very erm.. Unkind
Family ticket gone up from £62 to £86 for 2 adults and 2 under 16's

Going to make a brave prediction that this season will see a big shake up of the jigsaw puzzle from how last season ended. I just hope we don't start taking things for granted too soon. Funny old game football. ..

Re: 23/4 Fixtures
Cambridge away, postponed due to call-ups, rescheduled to February 9.
For a short month, Feb is gonna be busy. We now have six games scheduled, with the possibility of more. We're currently due to play:
Sat 3 BARNSLEY
Tue 6 Cambridge
Sat 10 Northampton
Tue 13 WYCOMBE
Sat 17 CHARLTON
Sat 24 Blackpool
...the only free midweek, Tue 20, is the scheduled date of the Sherpa Van semi-final. Not counting those chickens yet (we'd have to beat Accy-or-Lincoln and then someone else in late January) but it's getting full. And that's without mentioning a possible FA Cup Fifth Round sneaking in on Wed 28
We've also still got to reschedule trips to Barnsley (postponed by internationals) and Wigan (FA Cup 3rd Round).

Re: 23/4 Fixtures
The fact we play the nastiest games at home is welcome. We owe Carlisle, so that'll be interesting and then there' Blackpool away.
Last time I did Blackpool away a lad with a hood and scarf "wannabe hooligan" combo ran up and took a swing at me, missed, fell over and then ran back to his mates with his arms up like he'd won a title fight. Bizarre lot. Might be worth another do.

Re: 23/4 Fixtures
You can add Wigan away - Tue 27th feb
Re: 23/4 Fixtures
Looks like some transfer business may need to be had just to ensure players can be rested in Feb. Looks likely to be a tough slog and in the cold too. Hardly pleasant.
