This must be how thieves feel when an artwork gets returned to the gallery.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 8:17 pmForest Green have signed Christian Doidge. Let’s see if we can convince Dale Vince with an IOU on the back of a packet of lambert and butler again.

Be some irony if Ennis plays against us Saturday. Still to play them twice yet.

Played them enough last season. Can't say i'm keen on playing them again any time soon.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 9:56 pmBe some irony if Ennis plays against us Saturday. Still to play them twice yet.

Think they’re a very different proposition this season. Last term they were tight as a drum, but losing their manager, skipper/centre-back and loanee goalkeeper has left them porous.Mar wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:47 pmPlayed them enough last season. They’re now good up front and poor at the back - of the top 7, only Posh have scored more but only Oxford have conceded less.
It’s still the case that if we score first we tend to win and if we concede first we tend to lose, but I would be less Abandon Hope if we do concede first.

Indeed, and something that may have been missed form fellow onlookers in the Portsmouth 2-2 draw is the fact that it puts us on the least goals conceded of all teams in the league. Happy days!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 11:13 pmThink they’re a very different proposition this season. And that’s with centre halves made from balsa wood!

Indeed. I know we're three games behind so that record might not stand, but that just gives us the chance to get to be the top goalscorers in the league.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 11:36 pmAnd that’s with centre halves made from balsa wood!
Either way we're in good standing.

It's a cracker.
As I'm sure DSB will confirm, Mike is bombproof; so it's likely all the financial stuff is now set.
Doesn't mean it's totally done, though. "Deal done" doesn't mean his registration has been transferred.
I think we can all start to get excited, though.

Not sure it's quite up there with the BBC's Phil McCann reporting on the petrol delivery shortage...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:41 amIt's a cracker.

Realising Mark Pougatch is essentially called "Skidmark" on all paperwork was a real life event for my son.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 9:34 amNot sure it's quite up there with the BBC's Phil McCann reporting on the petrol delivery shortage...
"He's called Poo Gash Mark!" followed by hysterical laughter for about 4 hours.

Aaron Collins to come in for £750k. Interesting. That's first team starting figures.
I can imagine that we'll have accepted that there's a few things that may happen here. The first i'd imagine would be Dan N'lundulu being out for the rest of the season, ala the Bodvarsson injury (and the protection he had) and the second maybe Vic going to that Turkish club who have been sniffing around.
It'll be nice to get him in to get us over the line as we're clearly missing a replacement for pace off the bench up top. Both Jerome and Bodvarsson are quicker than they look, but I think its a notable step down in pace when they're playing, whereas the likes of N'lundulu is that pacey impact player that we've been missing off the bench.
It's all very quiet on the defensive front, which is a bit of a concern, but the clubs been very good at keeping things under wraps lately.

Club have already said Vic isn’t being sold. We lacked quality up top behind the two starters and maybe at times with the two starters so they see Collins as the answer to that. He scores goals and creates them. We don’t have a forward like that.Mar wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 9:39 amAaron Collins to come in for £750k. Interesting. That's first team starting figures.

It's important that Collins can play with any of Dan, Vic, or Charles. He can also play #10 and would allow us to to switch to a 4-3-3 next season if Evatt decided to go in that direction.
