Joel and Carlos, well done. Still think we’ll lose…

Cool as you like from Tomo. Making me nervous, and nice winding up of the oppo on the way past.

I had my money on that ending up in row Z

Fkin hell ref. As it it wasn't bad enough, you've got to go and stand next to Ashworth and get in his ear prior to him taking the penalty.

Unlucky Zac. There’s senior lads whose blushes he’s saved there - Dempsey, Iredale.

Oh well what a shame never mind.
A little disappointed that we haven't defended the title. But we have much bigger fish to fry.

Aye. Good old Sebastian Stockbridge claiming an assist.
Still, can’t say I’m too bothered - saved me a few quid. Get the result here in the league please.

Poor lad. Often a young’un. Charles and Bod’s pens were equally as bad considering their pedigree. Didn’t deserve to lose, but too many missed opportunities.

100% need to sign a striker and a centre half before the deadline on Thursday.
Not bothered about going out as I think the squad is thin and extra games and distraction not needed.
But tonight shows the reality we are working with. Two new wing backs look good. Equally I doubt either are ready for back to back 90 minute league games.
Centre halves - absolutely need one. Evatt can say what he likes but we are too vulnerable here. We just need a big hulking monster who can rough it out when Santos or Toal aren’t fit.
And up front we are crying out for some pace up there when Charles isn’t playing. Or when he is. But someone with some established quality at this level is for me critical.

Was iredale on the pitch, I thought he was an unused sub.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 9:08 pmUnlucky Zac. There’s senior lads whose blushes he’s saved there - Dempsey, Iredale.

Meh,
Can't go blaming young Ashworth when both strikers miss.
Piss poor second half and beaten on penalties cause our strikers can't convert at the minute.

I never like to see us lose, but not too bothered about this. We don't need the extra game(s) and, even if we made the final, it would never match last season's game, which was pretty much the perfect football day out.

To be fair to the ref, and I hadn't spotted this prior to it, but he did it with the rest of the players too. Zac's was different as he was tying his laces prior to the taking of the penalty.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 9:09 pmAye. Good old Sebastian Stockbridge claiming an assist.

There's a fair few that can shoulder the blame tonight for that result. It's not all on Zac's shoulders. Too many players rotated, new starters, questionable refereeing, performance levels not at the required level.
It's frustrating and all credit to the players for getting this far, but it feels very much like we've B-teamed it away when this is possibly the last chance we'd've been able to get to Wembley for quite some time. If we get promoted, I can't see us getting to Wembley in the other cups so this seemed like a really good chance to repeat that tremendous feat in the last campaign.
I said before I didn't think we could trust certain individuals to get us across the line and it's played out that way. That early miss from Jerome probably would've made the world of difference to the complexion of that game. We were 2nd best that entire second half and struggled to change things.
It's like pulling off a scab. Painful and raw, questionable as to why it'd be done, but we're out. We didn't lose in the 90, but we're out on pens.

Brave selection tonight, but for our two strikers leaving their penalty heads at home we'd have been through. On to stuffing the Tykes on Sat.

It’s saved me a couple of hundred quid and as said above, it won’t get near last years. So there is that!

Got a feeling we'll be a little on the tired side. That match would've been mentally and physically draining for a lot of those players tonight.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 9:26 pmBrave selection tonight, but for our two strikers leaving their penalty heads at home we'd have been through. We've gotten further than most defending champions.
JDC possibly looking a capable covering RCB, was wave after wave and he dealt with what was thrown at him. There's nervousness there when Baxter's not playing.
To make the night even worse, Pompey have gone 2-1 up over Oxford.

Yeah Lang scores for Portsmouth tonight. I think the next two days will go a long way to determining our season. Evatt has a big big job to bring in the quality needed either end of the pitch.
