All fair. Just noting that yon site’s probability calculations seem to have us only winning four plus change, which seems easier to outperform than I imagined. Same true for others, though.
Win on Saturday and we’ve just got to keep our noses in front.

The thing statistical models don’t tell and nobody can explain is bogey grounds.
We’ve played there ten times in league matches. Our record….D3 L7.
We did win a league cup game there in 1999 though apparently.

Hadn't won at Cambridge since the Miner's Strike era.
Meh - I'm not nearly as bothered about things that happened (or didn't) before our players were born as I am about the players they're facing. Give me a shit team on a bogey ground any time over a dangerous team whose predecessors we beat in the black and white era.
I'd be much more worried about the fact he's played Paul Warne sides five times and only won once... but it was this season.

Bogey teams are a nonsense and pure statistical noise
Anything head-to-head beyond 5 years (at a push) is meaningless.

Well yeah. How Sam Allardyce’s Bolton did against Paul Jewell’s (or whoever’s) Derby is hardly going to inform Evatt’s thinking for the weekend.

Bogey grounds.. gets to the players head when their team go one down... the bells go off... here we go again, the luck is against us.. the crowd gets vociferous ..Hard to pick themselves up after that...energy sapped.. the universe against us...written in the stars... Karma!

I suspect bogeymen affect loyal fans much more than peripatetic players.

If anyone fancies cheering on Stevenage I've just got the couch out for the second half.
Peterborough 1 up with a you guessed it, penalty.

2-0 now. We drop to 4th on GD if they win their other game in hand. Fortunately, we're going to shit 'em on the final day.

Some real cause for caution with Posh. There's skill and pace in spades there. Clark Harris and Poku are electric. Thanks DJB.

Could certainly make for an interesting game come the last game of the season if we were still vying for automatics.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:02 pmSome real cause for caution with Posh. There's skill and pace in spades there. Clark Harris and Poku are electric. Thanks DJB.

Can someone check the Barnsley fans are alright
Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
They won yesterday so I don't think they'll be too upset.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:46 pmCan someone check the Barnsley fans are alright
It's getting very crowded at the top.
Derby, Portsmouth and Peterborough all got penalties. Justifiably so, but I do believe its our turn for one.

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
Jones has been called up by Australia for their two legs against Lebanon. I assume that puts Jones’ participation at Stevenage into serious doubt.
The second leg is in Lebanon on Tuesday 26th with our Stevenage game on the Friday.
Potentially Sheehan has a similar schedule too if Wales win the first game he’d also be playing Tuesday night. Though in Cardiff so maybe less an issue.

Sheehan generally doesn't play for Wales though, right?
