I think you have to give their midfield credit, they are streets ahead of us. They read everything and press at the right times. It’s only their defence that’s giving us any hope at all.
This. And same in that playoff game

Don’t really fancy Jones vs Cole at all.

We have to accept Barnsley are playing very well. Every one of their players is right on it. Up for it. They are better all over the park so far. Get too half time and reassess. We need to see more fight but also much more sharpness in possession.

I reckon about 40% of the time Derek praises a pass, it’s on its way out of play.

How much did mcatee and Cole cost? Bear in mind our front two cost over a million quid.

I think we know when to press. I think the difference is they're not daft enough to let us do it, they get the ball forward a lot quicker and don't cause unnecessary problems for themselves.

Vic's been reasonably decent early on but has struggled as the halfs gone on. To our credit he's getting the ball a lot more frequently this game than usual, but its not helping.

Seems to be a theme lately. Can't tell if that's the strikers making unusual runs. Surely we should be finding a pass more frequently on the training ground aswell as in the game.

Well 1-0 at HT. Not the end of the world. We've looked threatening going forward, despite not making use of the final third. If Jerome was brought in to help the strikers, then who has been brought in to pass that same message on to whoever is crossing the ball?

Played alright but they are a better team. Can’t see us getting anything from this. Carlos is a big miss on the bench - there’s no way Bodvarson and Jerome are coming on to score. It’s going the way I thought it might.

We can’t be any worse second half….

That was poor. Very poor. I’d like to see us match Barnsleys work rate, effort and desire second half. Go man for man. Press them rather than keep being pressed.
