First cross country of the season at Chorley today. Was bloody tough! Can't say I did particularly well but it beat being at the match by all accounts

Re: The athletics/running thread
Friday night I helped a mate out who's trying to set up a running group offering headtorch runs round various parks. We set off in good weather but ran into an absolute torrent of rain which soaked us through and we ended up running way too far as we got lost. Once I got our bearings back I led us to our start point. What was advertised as a 7 mile run turned into an 11 1/2 hr. epic.
Good fun but not one I'll be repeating in a hurry. Yesterday morning was just a gentle 3.5 miles.
Today I rest.

10k done in 53:03!!! Hoping official time might be 53 but was hoping for 55ish so chuffed with that.
Based on that I *should* be able to do the half in a couple of weeks in sub 2 hours

Re: The athletics/running thread
Tuesday night was the first 'cross country' race in nearly 3 years. I highlight 'cross country' as it's actually a tarmac bicycle circuit in Redbridge.
It's a tough 5km which has a hill in it similair in grade but longer than Cruella. You run up it 4 times.
Part of the course is completely unlit which makes it intesting.
Anyway I did a pb (for this course) of 21.50 so I'm very pleased.

Guess you've gotta open up on the downhill bits then.Gary the Enfield wrote:Tuesday night was the first 'cross country' race in nearly 3 years. I highlight 'cross country' as it's actually a tarmac bicycle circuit in Redbridge.

Perfect storm for a pb. Just make sure you're pointing in the right direction.

Sorry dude. Must've been dead to the world. Woke up at 10:30 feeling rough as a badger's arse. Have't run a step for 5 week and gained nearly a stone so maybe no bad thing.Harry Genshaw wrote:^ Well he would have done if I could have woke the feckless git up!

So, that's me and BP in for this Decathlon thing this Sunday then. We actually get to run down Cruella, which I guess means we have to run up somewhere else!

I think the 'up' is a gradual incline through the bottom of the park towards Oakenbottom Road.Bruce Rioja wrote:So, that's me and BP in for this Decathlon thing this Sunday then. We actually get to run down Cruella, which I guess means we have to run up somewhere else!
