I was away.
I went out later (in the rain) and got in a second run of the week.
Re: The athletics/running thread
Did Goole parkrun in the rain and met my Hull mate for breakfast. Goole is a dump and the Wetherspoons was rubbish! Oh and I was hungover and struggled. Won't be going back there.

Grovelands Park 5 miles Cross Country race this morning. First ACTUAL cross country race on a multi-tereain, hilly course in 2 years. Pretty pleased with my 5.2 miles in 37.58 minutes.

I have a half marathon in St Neots tomorrow morning. Forecast is for 60 mph winds and torrential rain. Should be fun.

Didn't turn out that bad really. Wet and windy but not too bad apart from a quite serious headwind for the last couple of miles. Finished in 1.36.08 which I'm pleased with.

I think it is on that course although I haven't done it since 2013 and can't find the archive.
My all time pb is 1.34.37 so a little bit to do still. Truth is I haven't run this distance since the Ironman. I have another Half booked for Paddock Wood in the New Year so that's my target.

I should think you are, Dude. I'd just be chuffed to get around it in within the same day. Well done, Dude. Respect is due, xGary the Enfield wrote:Gary the Enfield wrote:I have a half marathon in St Neots tomorrow morning. Forecast is for 60 mph winds and torrential rain. Should be fun.

Haven't ran for a couple of weeks but will have a trudge round tomorrow, followed by a five sausage Saturday.
Anyone else having a do?

Legs should be nice and rested then. Plus, with all the weight you've dropped you should fly round.

I'm making my long awaited comeback at Worsley with my sister in law.

Thought you were looking a bit trim last Saturday, Bruce. In Cologne this weekend, but feel like my return from injury isn't too far away not. Been on the treadmill a couple of times in the gym and I can still feel something but it's definitely not as bad.
Don't think I'll be able to train sufficiently for the Manchester Marathon which was my aim as I want to build back up slowly to avoid a re-injury, though we have entered the ballot for the Berlin one which would give me a good long term goal.

First PR in 11 weeks and first race of any sort since smashing my face in at the Bury 10k the week after.Burnden Paddock wrote:I'm making my long awaited comeback at Worsley with my sister in law.
28:51 in -2.5C conditions. Bloody freezing it was and slippery under foot in places! 42 seconds outside my PB for the course, but very happy with that time.
The course record was broken, with someone finishing in 15:43!!

Was meant to be doing Worsley Woods with The Rain King but got up a bit late, so did a frozen-over LHP instead. Still running above my average time but over a minute quicker than last time out.
