A toss-up between The Interpreter and Casino Royale. Seen both and Casino won.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched the Glastonbury coverage of the Foo Fighters last night.
Discussed on here how not really a massive fan generally, defo don't think they're an albums band, but by Christ do I want to see them live!

I saw them at the Etihad because a mate got some last minute half price tickets. It was excellent but I still can't be arsed to listen to their stuff. Don't mind it when it's on, just wouldn't choose to put it on.

Not got round to the Foo Fighters yet. Alt-J (who as a grandad I'd never heard of) seem to be weirdly wonderful.
Elbow were reliably solid. Never really "got" Radiohead, but thought they did a decent set.

Foo Fighters live has gone on my bucket list after their Glasto performance. Have a few of their albums, two of them are like Manics albums in that - if you can make three songs that are that good, how come you've filled an album with nine shit ones? There Is Nothing Left to Lose is, for me, them at their absolute best. As someone who dicks about with guitars, what you do come to realise is that there are very few bands that have ever existed since The Beatles who've made incredibly effective tunes from such utter simplicity. They make Oasis feel complicated.
Really disappointed with The National's set, which is one I was really looking forward to. The National are a band who benefit mainly from upbeat tunes. Their lead singer is baritone, which harmonises perfectly with their upbeat numbers, but 4uck me, they make you want to slit your wrists otherwise. Their set last night was absolutely awful, I thought.

Yeah, I looked at the National. Think they lasted one and a half songs. Lorde lasted longer, but only to see if she could make one song last the entire hour...
Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched Liam Gallagher's set. Won't have pleased some of our more muso posters but I thought it was fab beers-in, tops-off stuff. Seems like he's got a decent band behind him and he's stopped dicking about and started singing properly again.

Y'all should have seen the Foos around the late 90s/turn of the millennium. They haven't been the same since. Now all Daddy Dave does is scream at the end of every line and try and whip up the crowd. His voice is shot and their back catalogue took the severest of nose-dives after There Is Nothing Left To Lose. My memories of them (Apollo, Academy) are effing superb. Their Glastonbury set was a difficult watch from this particular sofa.
Now, Radiohead. There is a different animal. A band who have continually pushed themselves for three decades. This era's pink floyd without the drama of their best member taking full control and then leaving. Can not wait to see them at Old Trafford next week and hope it's less of a Greatest Hits set than the Glastonbury one.
Enjoyed Thundercat (that cat can play), Chic and what Barry Gibb I saw. Also - the Lemon Twigs. I LOVE that band. Two teenage brothers from NYC wearing all kinds of past influences on their sleeves. A breath of fresh air. Plus Todd Rundgren is a fan and if it's OK for Godd, then it's OK for me. Not fond on Biffy Clyro or Royal Blood. They seem a bit forced to me. Didn't really see much else.

Yeah I saw Thundercat too. What was that guitar he was playing? Was sat there thinking "this is going to confuse any bugger that's turned up to see Katy Perry."
Re: What are you watching tonight?
It's a 6-string bass guitar. I missed him earlier this year at Gorilla but he's coming back later to play the Albert Hall (manchester) so I think I'm gonna try and catch it. Very entertaining playing.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 9:36 pmYeah I saw Thundercat too. What was that guitar he was playing? I really, really, really like Wall of Glass - A proper throwback to his best, but with a modern feel, still

Heard many a person say National are shit live. Shame, love their stuff. Mate has asked me to come back for their MEN gig in September. Probs will because I want to see them. But can't have everything I guess.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2017 5:13 pmFoo Fighters live has gone on my bucket list after their Glasto performance. Currently trying to find any means possible to see Radiohead this year, including foreign trips. Weekend away on the todd, lovely stuff.

Foo Fighters not an album band?
The colour and the shape is one of the greatest albums ever. By anyone. Ever.

I went from thinking she only had herself to blame, to feeling genuinely sorry for how her life (and subsequent death) turned out. All the people she had a round her and not enough trust to open up to any of them.
I was kind of infuriated by some of her "close friends" who were all full of tears, but did feck all to step in and help her though

All that, Boris, plus absolute repulsion towards those who only ever used her as a vehicle for their own ends, most notably the utter c*nt she actually loved.boltonboris wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2017 5:36 pmBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 10:13 pmJust wathed 'Amy'. Just watched Everest. Not a week of happy endings, this. Horrendous story very well told though.

Watched The Lionesses (English Ladies Football XI to you) trounce Scotland 6-0. A fair amount of the team are the same as last year and I'd have Steph Houghton and Jill Scott in preference to some of their male counterparts. They won't beat Spain 6-0 on Sunday, but I'll give it a watch anyway.

I'd been looking forward to The Mash Report. A very poor effort hosted by a chap who desperately wishes he could come across like John Oliver - something he fails at quite hideously.
