Could actually make a much longer list than five, and unlike some kinds of shows especially with news based satire they're "of that time and place." My top three wouldn't make me laugh much now (maybe the odd giggle) but in that place and at that time they did. So many missing from list of 5 though...
For of their time I would stick Drop the Dead Donkey in.

A home made MCDs brekkie also a good shout and dead simple - recipes all over t'internet and taste amazing (without having to leave the comfort of your home or guilty pleasure PJs/loungewear of choice...)
Whilst on the topic of guilty pleasures, Uber Eats delivers MCD's :-)
No need. All that is needed is some sausage meat, mix with some sage and then flatten into burgers and cook. Halve an English muffin and toast the inside. Fry an egg in as circular-a-way as you can. Stick on a cheap and nasty plastic cheese slice (the cheaper and nastier the better) and melt a bit, and bob is indeed your uncle......

As good as, if not better than the original.....
Or click an app select sausage egg McMuffin. Order. Wait 15 minutes. Enjoy.
We aren’t near enough a McDonald’s for anywhere to do delivery! I’ll have to try a ‘make your own’.
Daughter back to gymnastics today and the half hour drive to training is made better by this just down the road. Finally.

Oh I like them. Not as good as hash brown fries from Iceland though. They’re amazing.

How about top 5 best comedies on the tv? I’ll start with:

1. The Vicar of dibley - I’m sure this won’t be a popular choice but I love it.

2. Friends. It’s a classic really. Isn’t it?

3. Car share. A more recent programme, wish they would make more series. Some really sweet moments, as much as funny ones.

4. The Thin Blue Line. Another 90’s classic that my brother and I used to recite scenes from nearly word for word.

5. Just enjoyed Gavin and Stacey for the first time last lockdown (I know, it’s taken us a while) And In the absence of something else I’ve forgotten it takes the no 5 spot.
Someone with taste must have advised you to watch number 5. 😉

1. Phoenix Nights
2. Early Doors
3. After Life
4. Gavin & Stacey
5. Bottom

Comedies.

1) The Office (UK version) - It’s a bit marmite but for me the best piece of British TV ever made. Full stop. A masterpiece.

2) Fawlty Towers - Absolutely timeless. I can watch it anytime and laugh out loud and not much today that ticks that box.

3) I’m Alan Partridge - Jurassic Park.

4) The Trip - Not sure it counts as a pure comedy but still a completely unique idea. And it’s all about food. Perfect.

5) The thick of it - You don’t deserve to live. Unlike most shows of this sort it will in my view stand the rest of time.

Loads of other stuff 2012/W1A, Peep Show, Phoenix Nights, After Life...

But these stand out.

We did enjoy The Office first time round, not watched it in years. Wonder if it’s still as funny. Might rewatch one to see. Ricky Gervais annoys me though.

Nowt wrong with The Office and horses for courses and all that but The American Office built on the English one and blew it out of the park.

1. The Office: An American Workplace.
2. Red Dwarf.
3. The Inbetweeners.
4. Royle Family.
5. I'm Alan Partridge.

Big shoutout to Derry Girls. The IT Crowd and Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere purely for the 'did she go up on you' gag. Superb.

Each to their own but for me the US version took the basic idea of an office setting and turned it into normal sit com.

The beauty of the British version is the lack of polish, almost unscripted feel and being so close to the fly on the wall documentaries popular at the time that some genuinely believed it was a fly on the wall documentary initially. It was so awkward at times it was painful to watch. Which of course was its beauty. When I watch the US version that’s all lost. It’s not for me.
