Seen This about Cech
Chelsea have confirmed that goalkeeper Petr Cech has had surgery on what has now been confirmed as a 'depressed fracture' to his skull.
Cech was injured in the opening minutes of the champions' 1-0 win at Reading following a collision with Royals midfielder Stephen Hunt.
The club have now revealed the extent of Cech's injuries, which required an operation.
Cech's understudy Carlo Cudicini, who was also stretchered off after colliding with Ibrahim Sonko, was discharged from hospital.
"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Petr Cech was transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford to the specialist neuro-surgical unit," read the Chelsea statement.
"He underwent surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull.
"The operation was successful but it is too early to give an accurate assessment of his condition.
"Naturally everybody at Chelsea wishes Petr, and Carlo Cudicini - who was discharged last night after being knocked unconscious - a speedy recovery from their injuries."
Jose Mourinho was less than happy with Hunt's challenge and the club have confirmed they will be contacting the Football Association about the incident.
"Chelsea FC has reviewed the video of both incidents. We endorse the post-match comments of Jose Mourinho regarding the seriousness of these incidents.
"Chelsea will be writing to the Football Association with our observations

Oh feck will Mourinho just bite his tongue and die out of drinking his own poison?
They showed both incidents on the telly here and all look completely unintencional game actions, yet he goes around the CONSPIRACY/ASSAULT/EVERYBODY HATES US 'COS WE'RE GOOD tirade
Oh man I'm so glad he isn't managing a team in our league, must be a pain having to hear his pesterings every week.

At first it was comical in a farcical kind of way, but now its just an annoyance in the Fattas'hell Benitez wayVillage Idiot wrote:Oh feck will Mourinho just bite his tongue and die out of drinking his own poison?

Nuff said.Moral Eclipse wrote:I decided to order this thing on Premiership Plus since I was in. First PP game I've ordered this year. £8 and almost 20 minutes of stoppages. The game didn't finish until 102 minutes! I thought it was gonna keep going on and on. It was like the Neverending Story. Anyway, I definetly thought that the Reading player was unlucky to be sent off by Riley. Two bad goalkeeping injuries. I don't think the first was deliberate, even though Mourinho says it was. Chelsea were boring. Hardly anything happened apart from two knockouts, 2 sendings off and a goal that didn't seem to want to go in.
There, summed it up for you all.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
After an operation for a compressed fracture of the skull Cech will be out for a long time. My son in law had the same operation after a scuba diving injury and it took him a long time to recover/heal. Cutting part of the skull away and then putting it or a metal plate back is quite a serious operation. Another knock in the same area could be fatal so he may not play again this season if it was a bad fracture.
I also believe that its a FIFA rule that any play who suffers from concusion has to wait two weeks before he can play again so as Cudicini was unconsious for a while he could be out for at least two weeks as well.

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
according to the Bolton (evening) News..
why would we do that?? (unless Sam has an eye on a January tit-for-tat loanee????)SAM Allardyce has offered to help ease Chelsea's goalkeeping blues.
The Wanderers boss says he would let Jose Mourinho take either Ian Walker or Ali Al-Habsi on emergency loan to cover for the loss of Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini, both stretchered off in Saturday's 1-0 win at Reading.

we're not realistically going to be challenging Chelsea in May, so there's not a big competition issue. We have two keepers who need football to keep them sharp, so why not? Plus it's a wee bit of PR in our/his favour.
power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely
kevin nolan is so fat, that when he sits around the house he sits around the house

I imagine because A) As Walker and Ali Al-Habsi (who I reckon will be the one Sam want's to go on loan) are both good keepers, we can do without one as cover for Jussi and B) Possible future kindness from Chelsea e.g. Players on loan, players will cost us slightly less to buy etc etc.thebish wrote:according to the Bolton (evening) News..

Terry is adequate cover for them....Luna wrote:I imagine because A) As Walker and Ali Al-Habsi (who I reckon will be the one Sam want's to go on loan) are both good keepers, we can do without one as cover for Jussi and B) Possible future kindness from Chelsea e.g. Players on loan, players will cost us slightly less to buy etc etc.thebish wrote:according to the Bolton (evening) News..

I believe Hilario has Champions League experience, so I fear this, unfortunately, a bit of unnecessary bum licking.

No, I think you're right. Did we get that lad Andy Oakes like that a couple of seasons ago, or was he in the window?thebish wrote:can chelsea take another keeper on loan outside the xfer window? I seem to remember there are special provisions for goalies in the transfer stakes when there are multiple injuries - because it is a "specialist" position.. (or am I talking bollox?)

IIRC Oakes was a proper transfer in the window, but like many teams we've had special dispensation for others in the past - Juergen Sommer? Or was he a free agent?Luna wrote:No, I think you're right. Anyways they should play Hilario on Wednesday, they only bought him in the summer, if not to play then why? However, with having lost two players Chelsea should still get dispensation to get one in as cover, and it might as well be Ali, although I fail to see why their bench is better than ours.
The offer might well be interpreted kindly by Chelsea - lord knows they've few enough friends - and if it got one of our keepers out of the house it'd be nice to them. But my first reaction was "cheeky PR - wet's help wickle Chelsea". Putting down markers all the time, Sam yesterday quoted as saying "not many teams of our size come from behind to win", it's all little reminders. Personally I was glad we won yesterday (and, judging by his celebrations, so was Sam) because if he thinks we're a small club with dwindling attendances he could be forgiven for looking up at SJP – apparently yesterday was only the second time since its expansion that the crowd has dipped below 50,000 - and wondering what if...
