Talk about being unLuque

Post by keveh » Thu Nov 30, 2006 9:12 am

Newcastle misfit Albert Luque escaped injury yesterday when a lorry, sporting a Liverpool flag in its window, accidentally ploughed into his £60,000 Porsche. Luckily the Spaniard was outside his car checking for a puncture at the time. (Various)
That guy must hate England so much by now.

Now was it accidental?

Or was it the case that he could see the lorry coming and sat there doing nothing, expecting one of his team mates to come and help him out?

I like the fact that they had to tell us the lorry was sporting a Liverpool flag. :D

Indeed. Did the lorry driver get an instant yellow card for a tackle from behind?

Not to mention being OUTSIDE it as it got mashed.

Not my definition of unlucky.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I remember when we were going to sign him, but we didn't want to pay the amounts Depor wanted (Lendoiro, their chairman, is known as one of the best con artists in the league). Then all of a sudden Newcastle came crashing in with a €15m bid and some fat wages, and everybody was like w-what?

According to their official budgets, Newcastle has around €90m wage budget, while Barça has €120m (while we have more than twice their income). With it we pay the likes of Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Deco, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta... while they pay the likes of Carr, Butt, Luque, Bramble, Duff and Owen (maybe the only one that deserves it, if he actually played)

Worse run club in the premiership by a mile.

He's good, but no world-beater. Best played at the wing due to being deceptively quick given his body type, good ball control and strength (so he's not easily dispossessed), and having a nasty cross in him. He is also an adequate header.
